Small spear point ( Archaic age)

Da Yooper

New member
Found this the other day while hunting one of my favorite spots. It is a small socket spear point from the Archaic Age. I had an archaeologist look at it and he dated it to be 3000 -- 6000 years old. When I hold it in my hand I try to imagine what kind of man made this ,maybe a great hunter? or maybe a fierce warrior ? one can only wonder. One thing is for sure the last person to hold this point in his hand before me was the maker 3000---6000 years ago. It is made from copper and is 2.25. inches long. This is truly my best find ever

Look up Indian copper culture and do a little reading, you may have a spot close by you to hunt.Hope this helps

That is a sweet relic. I wonder how many items like that I've tossed away in the maybe 25,000 pieces of trash that have passed through my hands. Gonna have to keep the old eyes peeled from now on.

Where have you been recently? Not posting much here.

That's really an outstanding find right there.
Bet you're already thinking that maybe,
just maybe, there could be more of them
waiting for you to dig them up.
Good hunting to you ! Gene

Now THAT IS nice.
Were you hunting around the Great Lakes.
There was a group of Native Americans mineing copper in
that area and making copper arrow and spear heads.
Go to google and type in Copper Culture and the Great Lakes.
