Lots of speculation on what and how mostly based on what we have seen.
But....................
Whats hiding under the hood?
Iphone/Android apps?
Are we assuming that that its wi/fi, bluetooth, IF ????
Rechargeable batteries or AA?
Like to think backwards compatible with Etrac coils but doubt it.

iPhone/Android apps - not sure what you mean by that - there's nice iOS app from Minelab that I use for logging my finds - it sends it out to defined email address in PDF file, incorporating picture, free text, GPS coordinates and even a small pic from Google Maps of the area of find
no WiFi, no BT, as far as I can say (wireless audio does not mean WiFi)
batteries - I guess the "combo" of Li-ion rechargeable battery along with case for 8
