Was out the otherday and hit a few parks, I was running in ferrios coin at first but then switched to ground coin to try for awhile, nothing seemed strange there. I dug a few coins and some low tones everything seemed normal. I stop at another park on the way home and my coin signals were flairing way higher than normal. Pennies at 45 and 46 quarters at 47, 48, and 49. I wasn't running any thing different than I normally do, sensitivity was at about 23 , 24 which runs smooth in my area. This didn't happen just once or twice it ran like that till I turned it off to go home, about 45 minutes. I've had my ctx3030 for a year now and I have never seen a quarter hit above 46 even a surface one. Now today running at another park everything is back to normal tones. This wasn't just tids jumping the tones were high also. The only thing out of the ordinary was there was alott of iron in one spot where there was an old home but I didn't find any coins until I got away from the iron and into normal park conditions. I'll have to try this spot again and see if it does it again. Twilight Zone or what?I got a first last week. A silver chain in a totlot. A first chain of anything for me. What's weird to me is it hit with low tones, about 12.06. Got like 4 or 5 low hits like that as the coil passed over the chain. I have gotten a few silver earings that hit higher like zinc penny range. I guess cause the links are so small. I thought I would share that because normally I pass on a series of low tones thinking it's just a patch of can slaw. But since I dig everything in totlots I got a nice .925 itally chain. Now I stop at all slaw patches and at least dig one so I don't pass up any more chains. So big lesson learned for me!
Did a few air test today. I did not notice any depth distance change from ferrous coin to ground coin. There may have been some but I could not tell the difference. I tried a air test in salt water on. I did notice a little less depth like maybe 3/4 inch on a dime. Not enough to scare me away from using it in areas with some EMI. Someone on the forum mentioned it helped in noisy areas. I tried it and it works great in some of my noisy areas. Was worried it might hurt my depth but it still hits a dime hard at 9.5 inches, 17" coil.
Just thought I would share that maybe someone will benifitt from those observations.
And thanks to all you guys that share some of your tips they have helped me get up to speed with the ctx3030 being only my 2nd detector.
