Some of the finds I've been getting since I last posted.

Hello once again everyone! It's been a long time since I posted any finds but here is some of the finds I have made since last time I posted. These all were from various locations.....Schools, Parks, Fairgrounds, Ball Fields, etc. These finds on this post were 4 outings worth of time hunting on 2 different weekends. A number of the finds came from where an Old Fairgrounds once was but now has been transformed into a small Park and a few Ball Fields....which I intend to make a return trip sometime this fall too see what else I can recover.

It's been a busy one on this end....with work during the weekdays, getting things packed so I can move across town and doing some handyman things around my mother's house that she just purchased recently.

With all that going on, 2 weekends ago I did a small road trip to a Fairgrounds and when I got out to start detecting I would find myself up the river without a paddle. My trusty ole Explorer XS wouldn't power up at all and I tried everything I could think of to try and get it to power up but nothing so that small road trip was a total waste of time that weekend since I had to just head back home and wasted a few hours drive for nothing. I'm sure I was at fault for the ole girl to stop working also since I neglected her by leaving her in the trunk of my car for 2 days in upper 80's to lower 90's degree weather so I think I cooked her. That won't happen again and I just hope Minelab can get the ole girl working again because the Explorer XS is my "baby".

Luckily though.....I had a buddy with a Explorer XS that he has for a backup so he loaned me it until the beginning of October or until I get my detector back before this deadline so I'm still out swinging when I get a little extra time to do so in between packing and moving things.

Sorry for no recap of events this time and I will have another post coming up after this but I will get back on track when I get everything moved out and into the new place. So on that note....here is the breakdown of the finds I got for this post.

For Silver in this posting, I found 14 which included 2 Silver Washington Quarters dated 1937 and 1942, 1 Barber Dime dated 1916, 8 Mercury Dimes dated 1917,1920,(2)1925,1934,1941,1944,1945 and 3 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1956-d,1957-d and 1961-d. For Nickels, I only recoverd 1 and that turned out to be a 1912 Liberty V-Nickel. I did snag 3 Good For Tokens which included The Reid Company General Merchandise Castlewood, S. Dak. and Good For 50

James,
That is a good batch of finds, and it is good to see you post again. I hope they can fix your XS, it has been good to you. I am loving my XS and thanks for the help. Randy

That is if you need anymore advice or tips. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you on your next outing.

I see you're still doing well, sorry about the xs. I've done very little hunting this summer
since I saw you at Dead Colt. Did find a 56d dime in LaMoure, a 1935s quarter in
Alexander, a 1907o half dollar in Hettinger, and a dozen or so wheats in various places,
the oldest being a 1910. Have been setting in Worden Mt now for about a week and
the only thing I've found here is modern coins. As you might expect, I'm still using the
exp as a back up and found the above with the sov. The only pic I took was of the 07.

get my XS back relatively soon and hope Minelab can work their magic in getting the ole girl operational again. If not, she'll be going up on the wall above all the treasure I have un-earthed with her over the years.....would make a nice display like that I think. Thanks for the replies thus far and Best of Luck and HH to you all in your future outings.

do some electrolysis to that Half too see if it won't lift off that crud on the surface of the coin. Congrats on the Half and hope you find a few goodies while out in Montana Country. Good Luck and HH to you.

A lot of great finds! I like the tokens. Where do they usually read on the XS screen?
Those Indians really clean up nice in your soil.

My XS did the same thing last summer. Just would not power up.
Sent it to minelab and it took about a month to get it back. They had to replace the power button, that was it.
Hope it's the same with yours.

Tokens can read pretty low but the bigger ones read like Pennies, Dimes or Quarters so you shouldn't be missing them if you swing your Coil over them. The smaller 18mm or less can read a bit lower and haven't checked to see where they land but would imagine the lower 20's on Digital. My XS is over at the new place so will have to check this out tomorrow and get back to you on the smaller Tokens and where they read. I know the Aluminum Tokens will read around 25 where Indian Head Pennies are when smaller.

I hope your right Matt.....and if it's something else I just hope Minelab can get her fixed up again because the ole girl still is pulling some good Coins and Silver after 9 years of heavy use. Thanks for the reply Matt and hope you have some great finds on your next outing. Best of Luck and HH to you!

I left my electrolysis unit in the storage shed in Sheridan, so it will be awhile before it gets
cleaned up.

Very impressive! Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on your finds and the date rundown!
