Something wrong, something right, nothing great...

On another forum, we were asked to give our best th'ing tip-mine was getting the sweep to the point where it was automatic so you could scan the search area with your eyes for tiny gold chains,,etc. Today I shared the hunt-my Ace on the low trash schools, and the Royal Sabre in the trashy spots-I don't yet have my sniper coil and the Royal has a 4" coil. Thus, the cleaner coins for the Ace and the dirtier ones for the Royal, since these are areas most people stay away from. The something wrong was hunting in notch with the Sabre-the right was scanning with my eyes and seeing the gold tint in the grass. When the coil passed over it --nothing. It would have never been found. Too bad it wasn't gold-just costume jewelry-would have made a fabulous story Well, I found a few coins to ease the pain. Thanks for looking.

Yeah, me too! I quickly took it out of notch and went to standard disc. I rotated the notch control to change the tones where the tones split at tabs and just put up with all the noise. Can't wait to get the sniper coil.

Well, I see it as one of those situations where a lesser known, unsung thing is really as good as you would want - but only a few get it.
That's the Golden. It is NOT the do all detector of the ages, but it is an 80%'er, fer sure. Its certainly one of my favorite instruments.
Wanna know how much I like them? I sold my GTP 1350 to replace the Golden I foolishly traded.
I consider the GTP 1350 to be one of the best all-around detectors, ever made. I've had one for years and relied on it a lot.
This is the first time I've been without one.... all so I could get back into the Golden Circle.*

AS Mike Hillis would say, "Tones Rule!"
