Sometimes I go a little overboard.....

when I do certain things. Building bird houses is no exception. Last week I kind of got in the mood with all the warm weather we are having so I decided to make a bird house. At first I built a martin house from some plans that I got off of the internet. Then I built a bluebird house.

I decided that it was just as easy to build more than one, and with all the left over fence pickets that I had, I said what the heck. I ended up with 55 bluebird houses, 1 martin house, and a "kitty cat" house like the one in the picture. Carol brought one from St Louis 5 years ago when we first goot married. It was rotten so I copied it.

I have sold the bluebird houses for $15 or two for $25 and the Kitty boxes for $25 each. Now I've came up with a "rocket ship box" that has 4 houses on top of each other. I'm going to ask $45 for those.

I build these because they are fun to build and when it becomes a second job, I'll quit, but now it's still fun....especially since the lumber is free. (I work for a fence company)

Thanks for reading!

PS The last picture is of a box I did that cracked. I tried to repair but it still shows. It was the one I was going to have a contest with.

I do sign and number my boxes before selling them. I have made 55 so far and have 2 or 3 in the makings.

It takes a lot longer to make one, but I never hurry.

I spotted around 10 blue birds in my yaed the other day. Its almost unheard of this time of year, but it is unseasonably warm right now.
