Is the Sov. XS as good as the rest of the Sov's. Is it the 1st one made ? Or was there before the Sov.XS ? Thank You, GS.

GS a lot of people i know say the XS is a good machine it,s the second one made in a series of 7 , in order there is the Sovereign , Sov XS , XS2 , XS2 PRO , XS2A PRO , Sov Elite , Sov GT . i have 2 kinds the GT and XS2 Pro both great machines , depends who you listen to lol , i think all are great machines . HH Jim

The Original was first and then the XS model,so second for the Sovereign line up.I have a lot of hours on this model and have found this detector to be one of my favorite Sovereign models.Yelp its old, but with a straight shaft,Tornado coil, and S-1 probe will make this Sovereign perform on par with any current model for old park hunting.Sometimes you can find an old XS for a decent price, but avoid ones with too many mods or used a lot on any ocean beach.HH Ron

I like them all except the original. Some aren't too keen on the Elite but for beach hunting it's just as good as any GT setup with the same coil and both have the frequency shift which is great when there are lots of Excals around. The advantage the Elite and GT have are that they are both still servicable at ML. Something goes wrong with the older models and if it turns out to be the circuit board you end up with a boat anchor. The pots and switches are easy enough to change though if thats the cause of the trouble.

Regards,

Bob

Thanks guys, i just picked up a Sov.XS. I will have to compare my GT and XS2a-Pro to it using the same coils . I will start in auto sens. on all 3 . My brother wants to buy my XS2a-Pro from me , i couldn't sell it just yet because i needed a back up Sov. HH, GS

I think you will like the XS better than the XS2a as I sure did and many other I know do too. To me the XS seem to be more sensitive and could get better depth with it. This is the same with the XS2 as it too was very sensitive and using the 8 inch coil I think I dug my deepest coins with it. My second choice after my GT would be the XS or XS2 and my least favorite was the original.
I hope the one you got has not had any mods done to boxes itself as those I have tried I didn't feel worked as good as the way it is set up from Minelab.

Good luck with your XS as these are great detectors and they are tough too.
