Spectra V3i Uncovers History

I found this medallion from the presidential campaign of James K. Polk (11th U.S. President 1845 - 1849) and George Dallas (Vice President) at an old colonial house near Goshen, NY. You can see from the photos that it is in very good condition and still has quite a bit of the gold gilt on it. While I love finding old coins, I must say that this is one of the rarest and most rewarding finds in my 30 years of metal detecting!

You know....you can bust your tail...find after find, and those kinds of finds have so much "more" to remember the finding. What a nice find!

It was reading like a pop top around 50 - 53, at about 7 inches. I was surprised when I dug it. I was using the D2 coil.

Kyle, I think it's some kind of copper/brass alloy with gold gilt (thin plating), still researching it.
