Stainless or Aluminium Scoop?

Cupajo.good scoop!
but 5kg! my gossamer 1,05 kg (with handle), it is as a feather and a hammer ... good istrument who want to combine digging with exercise.
I ispolzovar handle "P" shape similar to yours, but eventually returned to the classic straight handle

9 i know you know that no matter how light your scoop is empty, it quickly puts on considerable weight when full of bottom/beach. the scoop i use is stainless and not as light as your titanium, so i don't carry it i float it.

just my 2 cents.

steve :)

I drag mine on a rope for the same reason, its heavy at the end of a 5 hour stint even then

Hi Steve,

We don't get deep enough to float a scoop. We both use Sov GTs and knee deep is about it.
I guess when you're digging a target, you don't notice the extra weight!

When you have a great hobby, it's always nice to add all the tools and stuff to give it that personal touch.
Talking with others and sharing ideas about methods and equipment makes it very special!

Shouldn't be long before you'll need to add an ice pick to your detecting stuff?

Best at ya!!

Everyone is writing about "carrying" their scoops, but I only carry mine a short distance to the water and (later back to the truck) thereafter it is dragged behind me by my left hand while my right hand swings the coil ahead of me!

The area I hunt has some of the hardest digging found anywhere because of the large stones that make up the sub-strate!

Ideally the sand will be washed away and I will be working on "rock bottom"!!

The targets usually settle into the spaces between the stones and aren't a problem to find, but are some fun to dig out.

The angle of the bucket and bends of the handle are designed for maximum leverage and digging strength and for power lifting and dumping.

I stand my heavy weight on the flat bottom and wiggle the handle and most of the time I can wedge the leading edge down into the spaces between the stones!

This is a job for a heavyweight "back-hoe" of a digger, not a garden trowel!!!

I can't imagine doing the digging I do with any other kind of handle.

There are many places I wouldn't want to use this tool, but it is the right tool for the diggin I do!!

PS If any of you fine scoop makers want to send me one of your diggers I will be delighted to do a torture test for you with a complete assessment to follow!!
