The last two days I was able to hunt a house from the 20's. Loaded with all sorts of junk(trash) I am digging a ton trying to learn the Safari. At times it gets pretty frustrating and then other times it does not. I was digging objects regularly at 8 and 9 inches, and some were very small. Man this baby is sensitive. I was surprised I did not dig any silver coins out of here, and only one quarter, so I was not getting that sweet high pitched sound except for one of the zillion rusted nails But I was able to pull some goodies out of it. Seven wheat backs, One 1907 Liberty head nickel. In very good shape. Three good for trade in 5 cents tokens, One Chinese coin. And what really surprised me was the 10 k Gold ring. It went from 9 to 10 and then to a negative 1 but had a nice low tone. The eagle also rang in with a negative 5
I was searching in coin and jewelry, but cross saved to relic. Only notched out -6 thru -10

Cross save with relic and hunt in ferrous tones that nail will never sound high again. silver will still sound sweet. I dug a decent amount of nails in conductive tones that number moved to zilch once I got onto ferrous tones. at times I dug iron only cause it gave iffy reading and wanted to check it out. This is what has worked in my soil. North western PA

COngrats, good hunt. I also prefer the Ferrous tones over Conductive tones, as there's almost no mistaking the sound of silver. also look at the little bar along the bottom of the screen, I have found that it will usually fall between the S & I in the word silver written along the edge of the screen when its silver.

Very nice mix of finds.. since Chinese coins don't have individual years stamped you have to check the dynasty period of production. My one Chinese coin dated between 1820-1851 as I recall. If you're up to the research,try this link : http://www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/china8.htm

M2- I agree, to me much older silver coins do fall between S & I on the graph bar, though I did have a nice '35 Washington also show that indication last weekend. HH
