Stolen detector ?

Hobby

New member
I just bought a detector of a guy on craigslist list sacto CA and I think it might be stolen. He only wanted $ 400 with two coil's .I saw the add had just came up on craigslist so I jumped on it good deal right? He said I could just meet him at a coffey shop down the street from him I said sure so I went to this coffey shop and he had the detector there with him box and all . Well this guy said he used his Whites and this was just sitting in the closet and he only had used it a few times .I tryed it out and it worked good and looked new .So I gave him the money .He was clean cut seam like a nice guy .I did not want to insult this guy and ask if the detector was on the up and up it .I have met people before when I have bought things .When this guy started to walk off I drove out that way to see what he was driveing and he was gon .I drove back around and could not find him .Kinda weird so when I got home I called him up and asked him if this detector was stolen and if not where did you buy it from .He just keep telling me he bought it and don't worry. It has a kelley-co sticker so I'll call tommow and find out who it was sold to ......HH........Hobby..I'll let you guys know what happens.

Interesting !!!

Nice to see you are going to do the right thing.:clapping:

I hope you don't end up the loser my friend...:|

Mine was stolen a couple of weeks ago but I'm in CT. and I didn't get it from Kellyco. To bad if it is stolen and you paid 400.00 for it. If It were mine I'd give you the 400.00 back.
Check with Minelab to see who it is registered to.GR.

I called kellyco thay where no help . I called Minelab and nobody sent in or called in a warrenty. So I called the guy back up and told him I need to make sure its not stolen and he found the receipt on the detector and warrenty card. I met with him and he gave me the paper work it came with ,.He told me he just wanted to sale it for cash and did not want to deal with it again.Thats why he would not give me his name or adderss ,Something just not right with this guy .Maybe he's got problems at home? Who no's .But the detector is all good. I just didn't want someones stolen suff .I know how it feel toget ripped off.......HH.......Hobby.............( Minelab said no one turned in a warrenty on it )

Hobby, I ordered a xterra 50 when they first came out over two years ago and it was delivered to my home by UPS. It was stolen off my back porch. I figured some idiot might try to register the warranty with Minelab so I call about every six months and check. Nobody yet, the crooks are getting smarter. R.L.

I hope it works out for you. You are doing the right thing. I know if the shoe was on the other foot and my detector was stolen I would want someone like you checking before buying. Like they say when something seems to be too good to be true..........

Hobby Good Job!

I sure I'm glad he came up with the paper work.It might have cost me $400 .There need's to be a form or some place where someone or a dealer can go to and check numbers to see if a detector is stolen and where a person can post a pic and there stolen detector # ......Would make it harder to sale a hot detector..............I hope you guys GR and RLOH get your detectors back....Keep checking the add's where you live........HH Hobby......

Well thanx for taking the concern you did! A lot of people with that suspicion, would merely not care less. They would just buy it, and not be concerned if it was hot. Glad you want to take the "high road', because I had an Explorer stolen a few years ago, and I would have been VERY happy if I'd gotten a call out of the blue saying my machine was recovered.

JW at kelly- varified the info on the detector .If you need info on something like this ask for JW not a sales man.:)...HH.....Hobby
