Did you ever have the feeling you're being watched?
I was M/D a yard in Memphis, Tn. where every other weekend there would be a large yard sale. I was having a little luck in the dropped coin finds, and some junk jewerly, when I had that feeling!
I looked over my shoulder, and was startled to find a very old Black man standing behind me. How long he had been there? I heard no car drive up, yet there was one, an beat up Blue Buick.
Nodding my head in greeting, I resumed my searching. Only I felt that feeling again. Turning around, I found my watcher still right behind me. As everyone out hunting in a public place knows; you attract folks, especially kids. So I asked the old man if I could help him?
Then I got a good look at my friend. He was very Black and his skin was very wrinkled. And to my surprise, his eyes were red, totally. I stepped back. Then he spoke, and I was more than startled.
His teeth were filed to points. Whoa, Nelly!!! What do we have here?
He asked me the standard questions about what I was finding, how deep did my set go, etc. Than came the reason he was interested in my detecting. He claimed he knew where a glass jar was buried full of gold coins. They were under a tree, beneath some large roots, and would I go with him to dig the jar up. Nothing was said about sharing.
Now would you jumped at the chance to go with a stranger, with red eyes and sharpened teeth to look for gold, somewhere? Not me!
Then, again, should I have?

treasure was. If so, why didn't they dig it up. That guy sounds like he wanted what you have.

By the way you have described him, he was a spooky, strange man...possibly dangerous in my opinion. Kelley (Texas)

If he did know where it was, why had he not dug it up himself??

And like you all said, why would he be giving it to me if he knew where it was. Red eyes and fanged teeth don't do much to build my confidence either. I'd pass on that one....... Geo
