Sunday morning.

Great Republic

Finally got out for a few hours early Sunday morning.
First site was a new site. Got the big musket ball and the tiniest flat button ever.
The second site was also new. A tiny little green in the center of town...found the 43 Merc there.
The third spot was a school playground that I searched a couple of years ago and found a colonial flat button. This time in the 20 min. I was there I found the colonial bat wing belt buckle (has file marks on the edges where they cleaned up the casting). I also found a 45 Canadian penny and a big chunk of silver with the letter "M" engraved. Thought it was a piece of aluminum when I first saw it. It was a fun morning.
Thanks for looking..GR

Neat finds - that buckle is really cool. A few friends and I found similar pieces of silver in an old 1890s-1920s dump site. We think these would cover the handle or a butter knife whose handle was wood or possibly iron underneath the silver. The wood or iron would rot or corrode over time. This is just a guess but the shape and size of your piece as well as the monogrammed M seems to support this. HH

Ya, it was wrapped around something. My thought was maybe a mirror handle or brush handle from a vanity set. Thanks again and good luck to you.

That is a big hunk-o-lead. Like 50 cal. from a long rifle. Sure hate to have crossed paths with one of those. Luck on your next trip out.

I'll take a hunt like that on any day.:clapping:

Nice finds friend:thumbup:

My hunts are few and far between...as my posts have been lately. Just beyond busy with my Dad...but I'm gonna' enjoy him while I can.
