Sunday's finds.

Found a few more coins and items again and plan on going back to a new hot spot next Saturday. First, Here is a pic of 10 Wheats dated 1910,1917,1918-d,1929-d,1930-d,1934-d,1939,1942-s,1944,and 1946-d.[attachment 23996 Wheats.png] Next I found a well worn Buffalo Nickel that had a some-what visible date on it (1917). I figured this would give me the chance to show everyone what the acid for Nickels does to bring back the dates on them. Here is the pic of before.[attachment 23997 BuffaloNickelBefore.png] Here is after.[attachment 23998 BuffaloNickelAfter.png] Also found on Sunday was a Indian Head Penny (1909) and a Barber Quarter (1903-s). In Saturday's post I mentioned that all I needed to find now was a Barber Quarter and I guess I filled the order on that one. "Sixth Sense, right Rick(ND)!" Here is the fronts.[attachment 23999 IndianHeadandBarberQuarterFront.png] And here is the backs.[attachment 24000 IndianHeadandBarberQuarterBack.png] I also managed to find a Silver Ring and a Silver Earring. The Ring is on edge to show the detail of it.[attachment 24002 SilverRingonedgeandSilverEarring.png]

But i had fun, went to girlfriends old farm, the place was a mess, junk ..more junk than i imagined.old cars piles of iron strewn all over.Did find some bottles.Ill have to try elsewhere.May I ask how you found your latest spot?park? home?

Very nice finds James..........:) I got to get me some of that acid stuff. I have some buffs that have no date and so does my buddy Lee and maybe it will bring out the dates on our coins also. What's that stuff called again? HH.

Eddie

The acid is called Nic-A-Date Date Restorer for Nickels. Your local coin shop might carry it and it will bring out the dates and even the mintmarks. How well does the acid work on the Nickels??? I took a 1964 Jefferson Nickel and ground the date off with a Dremel Tool about 1/4 of the thickness of the coin and applied the acid to it and within a couple of minutes the date come back. I was shocked to see it come back because of how deep I had grinded it. The acid ROCKS!!! It is a must for any detectorist and it will only set you back $5.00 or so and it will last for a long time. It comes in a 1 1/4 FL. OZ. bottle. Thanks again for the response Eddie and HH.

Thanks Mike K. All in a days work!

Some days you come home with a stringer full and some days you come home empty handed! I'm not sure I would call it work hehe :)

Thanks Greg for the comment and no, I am using an Explorer XS I bought in the fall of 2001. It has found 3,000+ Keepers (Including the Silver Coins)since I have owned it. And 722+ are Silver Coins. (Not including the Silver found so far this year)

I guess you are right! Work isn't as fun as digging Barber and Indian Heads. But then again I work construction and occasionally I will find a Merc or Wheatie when redoing sidewalks, so I kind of got the best of both worlds I would say.

All I can say for now is lots of Research! Lets just say that there was a lot of activity going on at the spot.

Thanks LowRider! Why are you called LowRider? Are you in a car club or something?

Thanks James. I will get me some of that acid and see how it works...:) If I ever get back to ND I would like to get together with you and maybe you can show me me some tricks I don't know about..:) HH.

Eddie

Little bit of everything there. Nice job.

Thanks WVAdirtdigger. The Barber Quarters sure look nice coming out of the ground, that is for sure. This one was about a good 8"-10" and of course was under a tree root. It must of been a root from a tree a couple of feet away since there wasn't a tree near it for about 8' or so.
