Finally, a seated coin. Me and F75Tom did some research and found where the old Pottawatomie, IA county fairgrounds were from the 1870's to 1900, and hit it up on Saturday. It was now a corn field, and it was about 22 acres, so we had alot of ground to cover. Anyway, Tom went one way, and I went the other, and we had an agreement so that if someone found a coin, they would shout out, and we would get together and scour the area. Tom came up with one first, a seated dime, so I went over and 2 minutes later found my first seated coin, the 1876s. We each found 2 seated dimes, and they were only 2-3 inches deep, which was interesting. 4 x 1870's seated dimes, that's it, no Indians or anything. What a great day. 2011 is going to be a great year for MD'n.
