support sling for etrac

dirtyknees1

New member
I've been researching the etrac and they say it's a lot heavier than my atpro so does someone have a suggestion for a sling to help with the weight.

Search swingything for the Etrac. I don't use a sling. I usually swing mine 4 - 8 hrs and it doesn't bother me.

Shortening the rod,using a smaller coil and using a harness are all methods on any machine to cut down the perceived weight....I'm making a harness out of an old backpack pretty soon to get ready for spring.

I use the Lejermon harness model S with my Etrac. I have a bad back and with that harness I can MD all day.

I got mine at Kellyco.

Don't worry about it. You will spend most your time digging goodies anyway. You will not notice that it may be just a little heavier.

I personally prefer Doc's Ultra Swingy thingy.

I think it was called Detector Buddy when I had my etrac worked very good. Was only 25 bucks. Good luck

My backpack idea imploded before it started so I ordered a Minelab Pro Swing 45 harness. I decided on that because I swing ALOT(20-25 hrs a week at least) and I've got a sore chest muscle. I tried a simple setup that I made with a bungee and hooked it to my belt loop in back,it worked really well except it started wearing a groove in my shoulder. So much with the harnesses and slings is about weight distribution and how long and efficiently the setup allows you to swing without some OTHER thing starting to bother you,such as a sore neck,shoulder,etc. This distributes the weight over the entire upper body,so we will see how it works. Quite honestly,if you don't hunt as much as I do something else may work just fine. My machine is an Explorer2 with X-1 probe on the upper shaft and I normally use the X-12 coil,so I have a fair amount of weight to deal with,normally. With the X-8 or smaller it's actually manageable for quite awhile. Strength,body makeup,swing speed,etc. all factor in of course....along with machine and coil used. If you have a pile of targets to dig it won't matter much.

It made ALL the difference in the world for me !!!! Just make sure you adjust that arm rod correctly so you can bend down to dig and move around so the rod does not come apart. It is very easy to do . Lets hear back from how nice and easy it is to swing any size coil all day long.

Well, I can't do a COMPLETE "in the field" review but I got the Pro Swing and it took a solid half hour of adjusting things to get it perfect(I think). I hung the Explorer just as it would be out hunting and it is MARVELOUS!! I'm not saying that because I spent that much money. To me,it's about being able to comfortably detect for 4-6 hours at a time. Since I'll own it forever,I was proactive about the rod possibly coming apart and dabbed it with Super Glue. It's in the position it always will be(for a right handed swinger) and I can still remove the J-rod from the harness itself for future adjustment if needed. They did some thinking about this harness. The price is a bargain for what it will provide/prevent when the time comes to go hunting. I set mine up so that I can unhook it easily from the attachment point on the Explorer with my thumb,it's very natural and quick. Hooking it back up is a 2 second deal. I love it so far,I'll write more much later when I've actually used it for long periods.
So far...:thumbup::thumbup:

At least with MOST things I purchase I equate PRICE with QUALITY. I'm not saying the other slings don't work,I'm saying they are not enough to hold the weight of what I run,and do it without me even noticing the weight being applied ANYWHERE. The other brands/models obviously do well with a lot of other machines. Body shape has something to do with this too,I'd imagine. All I know is this is the most heavy duty harness setup I will ever need. And,I like it....thanks for being right Roadapple!!:beers:
