Swing speed with the Omega?

How fast or slow do you think the optimal swing speed is for the Omega? The T2/F75 tends to work better the faster you swing it. The LTDs in BP mode work better if you swing a lot slower and in CL mode they work better if you swing really slow.

The Omega seems to workd well with a regular comfortable swing but I wonder if you gain or lose any performance be swinging too fast or too slow with the Omega. Have you tried a faster or slower swing on any deep targets with the Omega to see if the signal comes in better or worse?

Thanks,

Julien

julienne. I have had my Omega for a few months, in my real world test garden I have had for a few years I couldn't tell any difference between a fast sweep and a slow sweep on 8"-9" silver dimes and 10" silver quarter But now that it is so dry a slower sweep is the only way that I can receive a signal. Thanks, that is good news. It wears me out after a while if I have to swing fast. I much prefer what i'd calla comfortable swing. I can't stand to creep along like you sometimes have to with a Sovereign but I don't like to have to whip the coil to get a better ID and max depth like you have to with the original F75.

If I am running a low or no discrimination I swing very slow, it helps separate some of the signals in a trashy area. Also if in an area that has been pounded very hard, I go very slow and move forward
also in a slow pace. Because the deeper the signal goes the smaller the signal width is. It is easy to miss those really deep targets.

To me, the Omega gives the best TID at what I call a moderate swing. Swinging too fast will miss a target or hit one but miss the other. Fast swings over the target seem to make the TID more jumpy. A moderate swing settles the TID down. My moderate swing might be different than your moderate swing. I have only used an Ace 250 and F4 before getting an Omega and judge my swing to this.

AS with any good machine the way to go is LOW & SLOW then you will get the goodies. A fast sweep will tend to let the coil raise from ground at each end of the sweep. I have seen this on many a rally in the UK when this happens you only get the small area at the bottom of the sweep. My old mate used to say wear the coil cover out and you are sweeping correctly !! in other words keep the coil as near to the ground as possible and go pretty slow.
