Swing speed

Sevenpiece

New member
I have noticed it's possible to swing to slow in iron infested.
I tested it in my basement of my house with a dime and it wouldn't sound off if my swing was to slow,
so I tested it in the field today. This is just a heads up cause as we all know how important swing speed is with the Safari. GL&HH

Almost missed a Merc swinging slow with the Xterra paired with the WOT 15" 3 kHz.
The Merc must have been in edge only a couple inches, slow swing it would ID 6 but fast it ID 36.
Now when I'm not sure about a target I'll swing fast and normal over the target. I must have missed this Merc with the Safari cause it's the same football field I've hit several times, still getting coins out. Next time I'm using the 6" 18.75 kHz coil.

Except when I'm beach detecting, I always swing fairly slow. At any hint of a good target, I'll swing in different directions over that spot getting a better feel (tones) for what may be down there under the coil. When I start speeding up and getting into the 'hurry' mode, I know I'm missing some good targets and then I'll force myself to slow down again. Even in all metal mode, there is a portion of time that the electronics take to read the metal in the ground and it's easy to swing quickly and miss a small target.
