T2 expanded iron range question....

jbow

Active member
This is something that I have never understood. I hear people say that they like the expanded iron range on the T2 for relic hunting. I don't understand this. I mostly hunt relics but most relics are non-ferrous and are picked out of the iron.
If I want to dig iron.... well, iron is iron right and I can hunt in AM and dig it.

What is the advantage to having the expanded iron range of the T2 over the expanded non-ferrous range on the F75? I don't get it.

Thanks,

Julien

Having an expanded iron range give you a chance to still ignore nails and bolts but to find more interesting iron targets such as gun parts and ox shoes (at least I like finding ox shoes). In my neck of the woods nails usually come in between 22 and 28 so if a target is consistently in the range of say 16 thru 20 or 30 thru 40 I will spend some time trying to suss out its size, shape and depth in pinpoint mode (detuned some) to see if it might be worthwhile digging. I've found some interesting stuff that way.

Has someone made a chart for the T2 that shows where some of these desirable and undesirable ferrous targets commonly ID?

Thanks Steve,

I like digging those shoes etc too and have dug some nice iron relics. I wasn't paying much attention to the number, just the grunt and the size. I dug a beautiful, huge, heart shaped padlock that way. I will try watching the numbers at an iron site I have and see what I find out.

Thanks again for the help... I wasn't thinking about it right.
