T2 vs Sovereign GT

Has anyone compared these two detectors performance wise? They are two of the three detectors(the third is the Excal.) that I am considering and am going nuts trying to make up my mind. I do more wading then I do diving so I'm leaning more towards the Sovereign or the T2. Please let me know what your views are.

If you are saltwater wading go with the GT, I have both and the T2 is great on the beach but it does not work well wading in saltwater. The GT stay's steady. I would not hesitate to take the T2 over the GT in any other situation.

How about pasture,my GT if very deep on pasture but the T2 and F75 have peaked my interest, also my right arm needs a rest!

The F75 has a PF (plowed field) program. I have not yet used an F76 but the T2 is a great machine. Just remember that both the T2 and the F75 hear and signal on everything. It will sound like a lot of chatter and going from a GT to either of them will be hard at first because the GT is so quiet. If i were buying one I would go straight to the F75. I saw one for 700.00 yesterday on one of the forum calssifieds.

what do you mean by signals on every thing. the sovereign doesn't beep on iron except in all-metal. the t-2 and the sovereign only beep on the targetes that aren't disc'd out. still haven't found out if the t-2 still gets i.h. nad zincs at full disc. like the sovereign. thanks.

The T2 is NOT like the Sovereign, at all. In a high concentration of square nails and other iron trash and hot rocks the T2 is FAR better than the SovereignGT. The T2 will hit on every little thing but it will give you a TID. You will think it is chatter at first but it's not, I dug a piece of rusted nail eari=lier that was abot=ut 1/4 inch long and about as big as a stick pin, it had a good signal. The T2 is strong on olb buttons and coins.
Most people hunt in the 2+ tone relic mode but Tom has found, and passed the info on, that if there is a nonferrous item and maybe a nail or two in a spot the T2 will, in 2+ tone mode, sound a low tone of iron and most people will not dig. If you run the T2 on one tone with the disc on 21 it will ignore a lot of the nails but still signal on those masked targets.
I went hunting earlier today to my favorite old site that is highly contaminated and tried again to use the Sovereign, it was hopeless, it just stay's in null. I switched to the T2 and it just hear's and signal's on everything. It unmask's nonferrous targets in iron much better than the GT.

The biggest difference between the Sovereign and the T2 in real time, in the field use, is that the GT will give you a solid, steady TID when you get a hit, the T2 will not. You will have to re-learn everything if you go to the T2. The TID jump's all over if you are in iron and trash but it will hit on and around the TID number and the tone will be steady. The TID and the audio are independent so that you can compare them well. Just be aware that when you first get it you will probably think you have made a mistake. You will need to put the Sovereign in the closet for three months and only use the T2. I am serious, it is totally different from the Sovereign.
I like mine enough that I, after using the T2 for over a year, am buying an F75 too. I like the idea of more gain. Both the T2 and the F75 can be pushed beyond the smooth running capability of most ground and that is a good thing, once you get used to it. Also, the F75 has a static all metal mode in addition to the discand the motion all metal. The static mode give's a TID and goes DEEP.

stuff here too: http://www.thetreasuredepot.com/cgi-bin/bounty/bounty_config.pl?

Maybe I can make a short video of the T2 and the Sovereign on the same ground, it may be a few weeks before I can get it done but maybe...

In any case, I would take the T2 over the GT any day and I have had the Gt for three years... the Sovereign is only better in salt surf, I prefer the T2 up on the beach, but both work well. The GT is just way heavier.

don't take me wrong but if you are going wading get a water machine
I recomend the fisher 1280 or CZ-20. I'm a big Teknetics fan I still use my Tek-8500-B best ( pinpointing I have ever seen )

Thanks

the problem i have is having to walk and sweep with you eyes constantly on the meter watching for a good number to pop up. it seems like if you try hunting in higher disc. to find only coins it will only get the shallow ones. it would be great in a new spot but doesn't seem to find much in pounded sites. thanks.

I have just bought a t2 and I'm having problems using it,let me explain
I have been detecting on farmland and the machine doe not seem to recover fast enough from one signal to a another fast enough, also I have problem pinpointing.
