T2SE/NEL Sharpshooter Coil - Brings Home The Silver :teknetics:

I hit an old park around 9:00 o'clock this morning. I decided to hunt around the edges of the woods to see what I could find. I found a couple of wheat pennies, a Timex watch that was around 7 inches deep that didn't keep on ticking, a dog tag, a sterling earring, some clad coins, and part of an old brass lantern. I decided to go to another site that's one of the worst EMI places I've ever hunted to see how the NEL Sharpshooter coil would fair. Not bad at all. I could run 10 on the discrimination and 90 on the sensitivity and the chatter wasn't all that bad. After digging a few wheat pennies that were around 5 inches deep, I could tell that the EMI was having some effect on depth. The ID numbers were jumpy and the signal tone was not all that smooth. I'm OK with that, because the last time I took the T2SE to that location with the 11 inch DD coil I had to put it back in the car because it could not handle the EMI. At any rate, I was running 3 tones and digging anything that sounded half way good. I ended up with a 1940 Washington quarter, a 1958 Rosie, and a bunch of wheat pennies (1955, 1958, 1947, 1957, 1952, Toast, 1944, 1940).

I was a beautiful day for detecting. I got a little warm even though in places the ground was still frozen rock hard. :detecting:

That's a nice hunt, Gerald, and a nice assortment of targets. Good on the 2 silvers. I am kind of guessing where you were hunting. That one area with the fire station nearby is a tough emi spot. At least, that area is the worse I have ever encountered. HH jim tn

Wow! Thats good work any day of the year, let alone a day in January!:clapping:

Could you try something for me and post your results please ??????????

The next time you go to that high EMI area will you try lowering your sensitivity, and taking the disc up to 40.........
"
I had some great results at certain areas with my original Green and black T2 doing that.." that had a ton of EMI" . Granted I was using the 11" DD coil, and have no idea what will happen with the coil your are using... It smoothed out the operation dramatically using the 11" plus I didn't lose any depth ........I still hit 7 and 8" coins....

I'm just curious if it would do anything for your model T2..and that nifty coil you bought...

Thanks Gerald..and Man your doing awesome on the finds ..

congrats on the silver and all the other cool finds.

You certainly are finding some nice items,i use the coil on the green version usually run it at between 75-80sens,10disc,2+ and it runs as smooth as silk with the Sharpshooter coil on,mainly keep this coil on for most of my detecting. As we dont detect in parks or that type of enviroment we dont tend too get much EMI problems, one thing i have noticed is i need to switch off my mobile phone as that can cause major problems especially when it roaming.I always carry the phone just incase but dont switch it back on again till its time for a cup of tea.

Another major source of EMI over here in the UK is overhead powerlines and also electric fences on some horse paddocks etc

Nice find agine tab

Elton I kind of did that today without knowing your request. Maybe you were sending me a subliminal message.:)
