I hit an old park around 9:00 o'clock this morning. I decided to hunt around the edges of the woods to see what I could find. I found a couple of wheat pennies, a Timex watch that was around 7 inches deep that didn't keep on ticking, a dog tag, a sterling earring, some clad coins, and part of an old brass lantern. I decided to go to another site that's one of the worst EMI places I've ever hunted to see how the NEL Sharpshooter coil would fair. Not bad at all. I could run 10 on the discrimination and 90 on the sensitivity and the chatter wasn't all that bad. After digging a few wheat pennies that were around 5 inches deep, I could tell that the EMI was having some effect on depth. The ID numbers were jumpy and the signal tone was not all that smooth. I'm OK with that, because the last time I took the T2SE to that location with the 11 inch DD coil I had to put it back in the car because it could not handle the EMI. At any rate, I was running 3 tones and digging anything that sounded half way good. I ended up with a 1940 Washington quarter, a 1958 Rosie, and a bunch of wheat pennies (1955, 1958, 1947, 1957, 1952, Toast, 1944, 1940).
I was a beautiful day for detecting. I got a little warm even though in places the ground was still frozen rock hard.
