T2SE/NEL Sharpshooter Coil Corners A Couple Of Buffaloes :teknetics:

I decided to hit the woods today to try my luck, before warmer weather halts hunting in the woods, because of ticks, undergrowth and snakes. I set the up the T2SE in the boost mode, 90 on the sensitivity, and the discrimination set at 10. I dug all signals above 50 and few in the 40 range. Most of the targets in these woods are shallow and if you get your coil anywhere near one of them in the boost mode, you'll get a strong signal even if your coil is a half a foot off of the ground. The little NEL Sharpshooter is great for this type of hunting, because you can easily get in between bushes and back under fallen trees with it. I always love finding Buffalo Nickels, but what amazed me the most today was finding a small bead. The T2SE hit the tiny bead hard. I liked to have never found it. I also found a bunch of pre1900 shotgun shells, some old bullets and a Mexican Peso. Oh yeah, I also found a dog tag. It gave a ID number like a half dollar and when I saw the the silver edge I was a happy camper until I realized it was a stupid dog tag.

I'm liking this T2SE a whole lot. Trust me, the boost mode is a nice feature to have when you're hunting a place like I did today.

Crazy me. I forgot to post my best find of the day, an old antique bottle that was manufactured around 1900. I found it right off and didn't want to carry it with me while detecting, so I hid it on the side of a trail. I picked it up when I went back to the car to eat a sandwich. It was few inches deep and I would have never have found it if it didn't still have the metal pull for the stopper still in it. It says Buff City Bottling - Memphis Tenn.

What about it Elton?:) I Googled up 'Bluff City Bottling Memphis Tennessee' and found some good history on the company that made the bottle.

I never found anything like this bottle before. It just amazes me that they used to use stoppers for drink bottles as late as 1900.

Yeah, it has 'ROOT 199' on it. I wish I could back in time and see who dropped this bottle in the woods.

Maybe it's worth enough to buy a tank of gas. At any rate, I think it's a neat find and is fun to think about the history that goes with it.

Good woods finds! One of my more favorite finds from those woods and fields is a bottle just like yours. Mine came from the trees right near the spot you just found the silver piece and 1/2 reale. Hood hunting! HH jim tn

Nice Bottle Tab...

Its made after Nov 1901 since that is when ROOT Glass Works was first started...

Did you Know that Root glass works founder was the guy who desinged the coca cola hobleskirt/Mae west bottle...

If your bottle was a Hutchinson Coke it would be worth quite alot..

still pretty and in nice shape though...

What's the little metal ball seen on the nickel in pic #6? I think I found one of them the other day and the best I could come up with is the end of an old car antenna. Are there screw threads inside the hole?

It's some kind of metal bead with a slick hole through it. It probably off of some jewelry item. I don't how I ever found it, because it really small.
