Talk about getting excited....

Well I was out nugget hunting here in Oregon around the Gold Hill area...and after a long while trying to find a spot that i could hunt that wasnt private property and trying to find access through there to get to BLM land,
I found a creek tjat had history of gold mining. So I staretd to hunt it...very nice bedrock expossed everwhere...I though well I should find a nug stuck in these cracks somewhere...so I got a nice signal IN the bedrock cracks....had to use my chizzel to bust it apart. Usually if the item is on or near a crack..man made stuff will be near the top of it. But I dug 4 inches into this crack...finally got the target....a shot .22 bullet...ahhh geeez. Someone shot it right into the bedrock.

The next day ...same thing....except I uncovered a small quartz vein in a different part of gold hill area right along the Rouge river. I dug OUT the quartz pocket and bedrock that was attached to it...there again, at 4 inches, another shot .22 bullet. Oh, what a teaser man....get so excited cause you know if you dig that deep into bedrock it has to be a gold nuggy? right? mmm nope, unfortuatly not. But I did enjoy the Infinium with the 8" mono.

Moral of the story? Not sure if there is one.....

Heres a pic of some nice Oregon dredge gold...... :garrett:

Yeah, man those bullets sure can trick ya'. That Infinium sure is fun, though. I really love mine.:detecting:Hey, nice gold found with the dredge.:wiggle:Luv that yella metal! Happy Hunting!:)

Nice looking yellow stuff bud. Yeah those 22's will drive a feller nuts. Would be interesting to know how they wound up in a crack in bedrock. Were they carried there by the current from some other spot or were they purposely shot into the cracks in the rock. What's the weight of the gold shown? You been busy bud. Are you doing anywhere near as good as you did on Dave's claims? Do you do any high-banking or mossing or just stick to the dredge?. I used to get some nice flakes out of the moss on the rocks. Good luck in finding more.

Hey Bill,

Looks like those bullets were fired right into the bedrock. I just cant see how water pushed them there, but water is powerful stuff, possible i guess. The gold in the pic is 10.4 dwt...half oz. I was getting about the same rate as I got in the Klamath but in a creek I dredged in before we got shut down I was getting alot of gold faster than the big rivers, still on Daves claim. I have done mossing and high banking...I might do some more now that dredging is over. I like to pick at cracks and bust bedrock to get gold out. Yep lots of fines in that moss. Im doing a ton of research now on areas to detect in Oregon around my area for all types of detecting, got lots of maps latlely. Hope it pays off. Be nice to have a new Garrett come out to test these spots out in the Fall.

Do you have a snifter to suck stuff out of the cracks or the reverse - a baster that you can fill with water and shoot it in the cracks to flush the little stuff out. Lot of stuff gets lodged in those cracks and crevices. Hope you do great here in Oregon.
