Well I was out nugget hunting here in Oregon around the Gold Hill area...and after a long while trying to find a spot that i could hunt that wasnt private property and trying to find access through there to get to BLM land,
I found a creek tjat had history of gold mining. So I staretd to hunt it...very nice bedrock expossed everwhere...I though well I should find a nug stuck in these cracks somewhere...so I got a nice signal IN the bedrock cracks....had to use my chizzel to bust it apart. Usually if the item is on or near a crack..man made stuff will be near the top of it. But I dug 4 inches into this crack...finally got the target....a shot .22 bullet...ahhh geeez. Someone shot it right into the bedrock.
The next day ...same thing....except I uncovered a small quartz vein in a different part of gold hill area right along the Rouge river. I dug OUT the quartz pocket and bedrock that was attached to it...there again, at 4 inches, another shot .22 bullet. Oh, what a teaser man....get so excited cause you know if you dig that deep into bedrock it has to be a gold nuggy? right? mmm nope, unfortuatly not. But I did enjoy the Infinium with the 8" mono.
Moral of the story? Not sure if there is one.....
Heres a pic of some nice Oregon dredge gold......
