Talking birds...

having 11 birds in the house can be chaos or love. Somethings like the African Grey who watched "Night At The Museum" once and picked up the screeching monkey sound or the 'alarm' sounds of a couple of the birds drive us nearly nuts. Like a freaking jungle. Most times though when the talking birds do talk it is fun and sometimes amazing.

The African Grey has quite a vocabulary and makes many sounds. When I unzip the case on my Bible, unzip the detector bag or zip or unzip my coat he is there with the zipping sound to help me.
When I drink coffee as I pick up the cup I hear the gulp gulp gulp sound of someone swallowing. I always tell him thank you for helping me.

When I reach for my keys or put on my hat its "Bye" because he figures I am going somewhere. Sometimes he says "Dad, gotta go to work?" (He hopes I do because that is when Sherry would get him out of his cage and cuddle with her at night when I worked nights.) He even made phone calls...he makes the dialing sounds then "Hello", "OK" "Bye bye" and ends it with a boop like hanging up the phone.

Another bird says things we don't expect. One day I walked from the living room out onto the porch where he could not see me. He never said this before but this time he said "Where'd he go?"

We have one bird who is so sweet and gentle. When she gets her food at night she say "Thank you". She just surprised us with something new "Bless you".

So as the bird said "Bless you" have a blessed day.

I wouldn't want the noise of the birds around all the time, but to hear them talking would be fun! I"ve always liked to hear the Macaws or Parrots mimic what they hear, as long as it is nice and not cursing! I think it is wonderful that you hear, Thank you and Bless you, which shows you live your Christian lives in front of them! As far as the monkey screech.....that would drive me up the wall! Some of them curse like a sailor when hearing that ungodly language all the time! Glad you and Sherry like birds because I don't, just one in the house would all I could handle and looking through the windows and watching them!

I have a story to tell about Cliff seeing something he had never seen before and he is 71, there were 5 or 6 large, black Crows outside his window in the backyard and they were feeding, while on the fence sat a Hawk as their guard! The Hawk was watching over the Crows and they would look at the Hawk to make sure all was okay and go back feeding in the grass, then they all flew away together! He was amazed, as this was so unusual to him!

Another story is: I have a large Dogwood Tree outside my kitchen window (which I've had pics of it in full bloom on the forum) which has green berries after it quits blooming and this year the squirrels ate most of the berries when they ripened to red....very unusual as I've never seen that happen before! The birds used to eat them and this morning I saw a few birds looking for the berries and seeing none, they flew away! I guess with the squirrels eating them this year and fattening up for the winter, that it will be unusally cold this year!

I really like to watch the wildlife and get a big kick out of the birds and squirrels antics! The squirrels run up and down the Dogwood and other trees in our neighbor's yards! I am now getting their leaves that are really falling down! I had mine all cut down but still getting leaves! but of course not as many as I had with my own trees!

The Mums I split apart and planted about 10 holes with the sprigs have grown and are blooming beautifully and full of bees, bumblebees, moths and butterflies or whatever likes to get the necter from them! I have taken pics of my flowers but I don't have the software program in my Computer yet so I can get them on the forum! Ma is slow and Computer challanged!

God Bless and all are still in my thoughts and prayers!
