Target shape id - will it ever be possible.

Just a question here for any electronics boffins who read this forum - Would it in theory be possible to design a metal detector for coin shooting hunting that has a target shape id screen. You know the thing like some sort of screen that shows wether the target is round or long like a nail like . OR THE ULTIMATE -TO TELL A PULLTAB FROM A RING.

I've dug thousands of dollars woth of rubbish. So I have no problem digging more.:clapping:

I beg to differ....Even if it told you it was round like a coin.....you still don't know what year,or if it was a key date, or what condition it is in...etc.....etc...,its like fishing and having a fish finder....you can't tell what kind of fish or the exact fish size......but when you feel it on the hook the excitement is just as good as if you didn't have a fish finder and hooked a fish.....the excitement and thrill will still be there......not knowing what you will dig up.....but by it telling you it is a round object...the junk will be less and rings and coins will be more often dug and junk will be less..even though the junk will stay in the ground and make it harder for the coin finds.....oooops.....its a double edge sword......ok maybe we should just dig it all and clean up the planet....even though it will just get buried somewhere else.....like at the landfill.....instead of the parks and beaches......etc....ok I give up.....I need a beer.........and a cig

first and formost....the sound of those would be good so.....sound is the most important with the explorers.....clad and pennys sound good and silver even better.etc etc....so trash is usually not an issue with those sounds ....

There is no mystery in it for me bob as i know what i am about to dig out of the ground in most cases i am right on the dot with target id of foil , tabs , screw caps and bottletops , its a pity i cant id good targets as easy:veryangry:

I should hope that a seasoned hunter should know pretty much the same if he knows his machine.
I was refuring to items like I posted pics of. You can't tell me that you know the difference between a small piece of copper pipe and a Large cent.
If you can you're a very special man.:beers:
