Teknetics 11' DD coils....

Hey all. I owned a T2 for a short time, traded it for a Omega 8000. One thing I have noticed is both of these machines LOVE steel bottle caps.

I also have the 10' concentric coil for my Omega. Will this tune out the caps a little better?

Although there are "tricks" for aiding in the elimination of bottle cap digging with DD coils, the 10" concentric does a whole lot better on them. HH jim tn

You have to remember those rusty steel caps have leached out on many.. So the machine is seeing a larger target.. Plus many are mixed metals..

Thanks Jim. I tried the raising the coil trick, maybe im just paranoid, I end up digging it anyways lol

My G2 with the 11" DD coil loved them as well, unfortunately. These tips helped a bunch but I still dug a few now and then. Also, look up some of Monte's posts about checking bottle caps. I also noticed that in pin pointing, a coin would be a narrow and sharp type of signal when pin pointing whereas a bottle cap would pin point large and wide. If the Omega is any thing like my M6, then it would probably benefit greatly on ID'ing bottle caps by using the stock concentric coil instead of the DD coil.

It's the nature of DD coils, not the detectors per se. The only exception I can think of are certain Minelab models...eg..E-Trac, Explorer SE. But even they get fooled sometimes.
Ryan, did I ever email you my Omega user tips?
