Gday,

I wish I could say SOLID GOLD , but it was not to be this time
Went out yesterday to an township site (settled 1839)... nothing remains except a few low piles of stones
It is said they burned the town down and relocated it after a deadly infectious epidemic which killed a lot of the citizens.
This place is littered with rusty iron - some spots were 7 - 8 low tones per swing.
I started out in conductive but soon switched to TTF and it really made a BIG difference
Only once was I fooled in TTF to dig iron (01.30) - I had an open screen for 95% of the day...I am very much still learning the Etrac.
When I walked onto a spot which was iron littered I gridded it more carefully as this must of been where a house site used to be

A good day out was had but personally Iuck was not with me .
All I found was copper (12"deep!!!!), brass objects, 2 old brass buttons
A friend dug a beaut silver 1834 British shilling in near mint condition.
Another, a chinese token but finds were scarce..
..it is thought the town only existed a dozen years or so and therefore not too much "treasure" has accumulated.

Anyhow, I said that I would report back as to how TTF worked for me and in this situation it is brilliant.
Thanks very much to Randy, Terry and Gaz for your help in getting me on track.:clapping:

Well done mate!!

I'm so glad it worked for you. Don't forget that top line trick. Black out FE01 line but leave open CO 38-48. That will calm down the iron wrap around and falsing but still let big silver through.

All the best,

Gaz.

Worked for me too in an old mining camp where among all the iron relics in the ground, there were hundreds of old empty sardine cans everywhere. In one case I found an Indian Head penny right next to a rusted sardine can at 4". Love the TT Fe !! I run a wide open screen too but just very careful about anything 01-XX.
