The 1916-D has returned home! Graded VG08 !!!!!!

Well after a long wait.....well it seems like a long time..lol. I got my
1916-D back today. I am SO HAPPY they did NOT mark it cleaned!!!! WoooHOOOOO. I was SO careful removing the dirt from it to not leave any scratches. I was nervous it would be marked as "cleaned" or enviromental damage from being buried.

As you can see in the pic, it was graded VG08, and that is just fine with me!

I am not sure if all of you see or not but I dug the 1916-D on Aug 27th, and all within about 2 and a half weeks, I dug 3 more 1916 mercury dimes. I found one 1916-S and 2 of the 1916-P.....crazy unreal! I included all of them in a pic below.

I doubt I will ever top this find, sure will be hard. I still feel extremely lucky to have dug such a rare coin, thanks to everyone for looking!!!!!

Congratulations! You just recovered the cost of your E-Trac in one coin!

I am so happy for you Terry it couldn't happen to a nicer person!

Congratulations on such an amazing find. It looks great in an authenticated case! I hope I someday can experience the joy of a find that cool. :)

Awesome Terry, so glad to see it didn't come back clean or environmental damage. You definitely did the right thing by being careful, congrats!!

Congratulations on a great find and the grading as well. -- Randy

Congrats on the milestone of getting it through grading without issue

Just curious, what did you do to clean it, just rinse it under water or ?

HH,
Brian

We knew it would be a solid VG or VG+............but I'm really surprised they did not tag it as cleaned or environmental damage...............great for you Terry...........one helluva a find!!! :super:

first I soaked it in water for 30 min while I cleaned my other finds, then I rinsed it under a small stream of water, to remove 99% of dirt, then I took wet q-tips and dabbed up and down to remove all remaining dirt....NO scratches!!!!! I cannot believe even with them looking at it under a microscope it was NOT labeled cleaned...I got LUCKY!

That's a nice '16-D merc Terry (nice rims & details) & it graded about what I thought it would when you first showed it.------The one I found on April 1st came back graded/slabbed as AG grade.-----Just curious, why didn't you have it graded by PCGS or NGC?--------You got a very nice coin there & in a VG8 grade!----------------Del

everyone I asked said that PCGS would say it was dug and would NOT grade it

Yeah, that was kind of what I was afraid they would do with mine.-----But I went ahead & sent it in to NGC and it did come back graded/slabbed as AG.----I was hoping it would go a good grade but the AG is probably about right for mine.----Your '16-D is a lot better coin than mine.---I'm happy for ya man!-----------Del

Very Nice Terry! That should be around the $1600.00 mark I think... just a guess..lol
