The coins and bullets I found Sunday with the 12x15 SEF

The larger bullets and most of the pennies were at 9" up to 12" on one bullet in sopping wet river bottom gumbo.I can not believe the separation this coil gets for its large size and strong sensitivity to small targets:thumbup:
Any of you relic hunters know what type of bullets are pictured please let me know as I am new to relic hunting,Thanks Ray.

Ray - Nice finds !
It seems like you and a lot of other guy's are very happy with the SEF 12 x 15 coils !
I'm thinking very seriously about getting one.

From what I've come up with the stock Pro Coil weighs approx. ( 19 oz. ) and the SEF 12 x 15 weighs approx. ( 29 oz. ) with the coil cover on.
Can you still swing this big SEF coil on an all day hunt ?

Thanks for all your great posts ! --- Mark

It is quite a bit heavier than the pro coil and it feels heavier but I swung it last sunday non stop for over 6 hours.I must say it was a workout and I am in decent shape at 45 but only 5-6 and 145 lbs.I also move faster than most guys with the Explorers and E-Tracs and would say if a person moved slow and low it would not be to bad at all,Ray.

HI, Ray:

The right one is obviously a minie ball. Either .54 cal. or .58 cal. The two next to it look like .54 cal. carbine bullets for a Burnside carbine. The middle one looks like a .54 cal. Cosmopolitan carbine bullet. The one with the serrations in the grooves is a post Civil War, or "modern" bullet. The other two are hard to know, but appear to have been shot. They all appear to be fired. Not "dropped", like you would find in a camp. Nice finds. I worry about the weight factor of the big coil. I'm 65 and have arthritis in both shoulders and carpal tunnel in my right hand. Getting old isn't for the faint of heart, but I do love to relic hunt.

keep on diggin'

There's a chart I put up in the Sovereign forum with various coil weights listed, including some of these FBS coils to compare to.
