The dog loves the sun

My wife has this doberman that lounges where the sun come through the skylight....the interesting part is that as the sun moves, the dog repositions herself to be under the sun!!!! im not making it up, honestly. I tried to take a picture of the skylight and the dog (Dori) laying under the sun but it was too bright i think ...cant tell much
Is that unusual for a dog to do that?

No, my dogs do that all the time. They will follow the sunlight coming in the window.

My wife has had dogs all her life and she told me , when i mentioned this toher, that she had not seen any of her dogs do that before....her dog does it winter or summer.....kinda weird seems to me

My cat used to lay in the sun in the morning and late afternoon.... and he was a black cat, so I imagine he would get hot. My dog doesn't do it though.

As humans we do not give animals enough credit. They are much smarter than we give them credit for. They can smell things much more than us, hear things way before they get close enough for the average human to hear the object, they sense evil and good (for instance, look at the cat that jumped the dog in Bakersfield, California saving the boy from serious harm) It is my belief that animals are much more "in sync" with mother earth than humans. I remember a mentor of mine telling me, " if you want to live good healthy life, observe animals and nature" Detectorman, your wife's dog knows exactly what that big ball in the sky is just like we do. However, the dog can't verbalize it :) Your dog knows it can obtain heat from it and the sun feels good to them just like it does us. The medical community tells us to get outside and get 20 minutes of sun for healthy reasons. I feel animals already have this "built into them" and know they need it. - Just my two cents

Not sure why it posted twice

I cant disagree with anything you have said and the only thing i can add to what you say is that she will do it on warm/';hot days or winter days....feels good to her i guess.....lately its been hot and ive pulled the shade over most of the skylight Now the sunny area is about a foot wide and 3 ft long and guess what? the same thing...she will lay under the sun where a small portion of her body is lit up by the sun...and she will SHIFT her body as the sun moves around the room...

that cat story is quite remarkable....not to diminish the end results which would have b een catastrophic for sure. Im thinking the cat attacked a natural enemy -- the dog....regardless of that i would buy the feline the best meal of her life for a while

Ive learned something about animals having this one around......if anyone (unknown to the dog) comes within 20 feet of the front door that person is in danger....but once they get "acquainted" and become friends? the dog will considers them family and are friends forever. Dori loves to play with little toys in the house....but if the toy goes in a corner or under the dining room table or under the coffee table she will NOT get it...she will make dog noises until she gets our attention for US to get the toy...she has us "trained"
