The fake t2's

It would probably show up in the functionality of the detector somehow. None have been reported in the US so far and anything going the US distributor/dealer network is going to be the real deal. The counterfeits are sold by a foreign source. No legitimate dealer would risk his reputation dealing with these people.

Wouldn't this counterfeit problem be exposed when attempting to register the detector for warranty purposes? Just a thought....

Just a thought... This is why it is always best to buy from an authorized dealer. If it
seems to be too good to be real... likely it is a skam. I wonder if this has any
connection to the popularity of the T2 in Sedan... and will the Minelab 4500 be
counterfeited?

Go to KERED's question about T-2 prices at the top of technetics forum page. Minelab's' Garrett's along with T-2s are being sold in lots of 50. They willshow up here sooner or later. IMHO

It looks like these are located in Indonesia, lots of 50 units minimum would be hard for most dealers to swing. I suppose it's possible some one in the US was stupid enough to go for this. One can imagine all sorts of scenerios where these may appear in the US. I'm not sure how this would play out legality wise but it's possible that anyone caught with these units runs the risk of having them seized as counterfeit goods.

My advice again, stick with legitimate dealers and STAY AWAY from 'too good' prices on eBay from unknown sellers.

Tom

You never know. While I doubt it has the performance of a real T2, some of the Chinese knock offs are pretty good.

Found a listing on EBAY for what looks to be a bunch of the fakes. Selling them as a buy it now for 750 bucks. Outfit is in Cyprus.

Go figure.... Looks to be just started to list them and seems to have not sold any as yet. Wont put the link here...or i might be accused of trying to sell the dang things by management...but all you have to do is a search on ebay and you will find them. Ebay ID is angeloscoins Apparently has sold 2 of them so far.
