The Incredible Tesoro Silver

I went out to a local park this morning to do a little detecting. I started out hunting with the discrimination on the Silver

Nice! Would you do me a favor? Would you set the disc. at the point where the tabs break up audibly and tell me what kind of signal the ring gives? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

When the tabs (beaver tails) are just breaking up, the gold ring sounds clear up to about 4 1/2 inches and then it starts to break up. If you look at the picture you can see where I had the discrimination set. If the discrimination had been set just a little more to the middle of 'tab', I would have missed that ring.

Thanks. Whenever I get in that mood, that's where I set the disc.level. It was one of Jack's recommendations for hunting in tabs. It also helps find coins next to trash.

Sweet finds my friend. Alot of the folks on the forum have been wondering where you have been as you been quiet lately. I knew what you have been up to, you've been out on a rampage with that Silver

What coil were you using? I have had experience on my Golden where gold rings that are being disced or notched out still come through, and silver rings as well, long stories.

That ring is the exact copy of my wedding ring!

Congrats on the Gold and Silver rings!! Two very nice finds and great to see the Silver Umax is doing you right, Beale,

I was using the 8 inch brown doughnut coil. I really like that coil a lot. It's light, easy to swing, pinpointing with it is a snap and it gets good depth

Remember when switching coils, the discrimination points and notch width can change from coil to coil.

Way to go Tabman. I enjoy reading your posts and seeing the pics. Thanks for all the good information you share as well. It is nice to see your posting again. You had some people concerned. Congrats on finding 2 rings in one hunt. Silver and gold in one hunt , it does not get better than that.

nice find and thanks for posting your settings info, I think if we all contributed info like this on our finds it would be very beneficial to everyone. What area of the park did you find it in? mid field? under trees? park perimeter? I have compadre and just love it, might also be picking up a Cutlass II today, curious to see how it compares to the compadre diff freq and coil but added sensitivity and descrimination.

I was all over the place.:)

I know I went over the area where I found the gold ring at least twice in past hunts. I might have had the discrimination set too high.

It pays to hunt with a low discrimination setting at local parks, since most of the silver coins have been cherry picked using high discrimination settings.

There are plenty of gold rings left in the trash. You have to dig lots of trash to find them though.
