The new Garrett Edge digger, anyone tried it yet?

This will solve your root problems in short order with little effort.

In the last 35 years I have tried most every digger that has hit the market.
The one that has hung from my belt for the last 20 years is the carbon steel Hori Hori. It is indestructible, fast, light, and has a 6" blade. You always know how deep your hole is.
As for cutting thru roots, I like a pair of small pruning shears. Fast and hassle free.

Is the carbon steel model the one with the dark colored blade?

I've got the Garrett and took a grinder to it's edges. ..now it's sharp! I absolutely do not nor ever have cut a plug with anything but a reworked carbon steel (the kind that rusts) butcher knife. I use the Garrett to pry the plug up and digging the hole deeper if need be. The knife is neater, the garret is super strong, will gouge thru rocks, roots etc. ..I like it for what I use it for.

Oh, by the way, the pouch that comes with the Garrett digger is basically of no use. ..I don't even use it, just carry my diggers in a big loose pouch for easy accessibility. They're in/out a lot so its easier.
