How many have wondered about places you have been in the past?
For me it goes back to the old adage " If i only knew then what i know now!
I am sure i missed some goodies at places, some of the places were good ones too.
But sometime maybe i will make it back to a few of them!

I have been to a few places that I have no desire to return to and a few I would love to hunt again.

I don't like the places nearby that do not yield much, yet should. I've got a spot that was a school and high school from very early 1900 'til 1940's. Then was a grade school 'til '60's. I haven't found 1 coin there....but I'll keep searching; its only 5 miles away.

Most of my places are close by and I can return time and again.

What I daydream about a lot is what it would be like to go back and visit certain places at certain intervals (say every decade) and "look around" for what's going on where for about a month. I love the idea of that. That is why I do a lot of filming, not just detecting but family stuff. I want my kids to look back at the sights and sounds and remember.

Interesting post. Thanks Harold.

I have a couple places I hunted a few years back that the targets were so deep my son and I was getting just one sided signals with our Fisher CZ-6 machines. Now these machines got really good depth and we were digging those signals and were finding Barber dimes and Mercuries at 9 inch's deep. I definitely intend to take this E-Trac back to those places to see what we were not able to get down to.

Well I can tell you one thing!---If you have a good area to hunt--make the most of it, because hunt areas can & do change over time (for various reasons).----My wife & I are retired and have been fortunate to be able to detect many areas in our travels.----We have detected every state in the U.S with the exception of the very north-east and WI & MI.----Have done quite well in MOST of those areas---BUT---have went back to some of those good areas only to find the hunt situation had changed (sometimes dramatically).---My point & bottom line is, when you do find a good hunt area, don't wait TOO long to go back (if possible).----------Del

I definetly think about the places I have been and the tactics and equipment I used when I was there, things I have found and things I may have left. What was my skill level when I hunted it? I also think, if I got permission once, I can get it again. I bought a small spiral bound notebook and when I think of a place I have hunted before that I may want to hunt again, I write it in the notebook, along with names and contact information. I also write down information on other sites I want to hunt in the future, this includes jobsites I have worked on that were old houses where I established a relationship with the homeowners, friends that I know live in old houses, etc. This way I dont have to worry about remembering all that information when it comes time to knock on doors or make some phone calls.

Idaho PRB-----That's very good input you posted.----We do the same thing and also always log in our record book the detector & coil that we were useing on each particular hunt.---Probably should enter the soil conditions at the time also (dry, wet, etc.)--I haven't done that.----------Del

Good post Harold.

I'm a creature of habit...and continue to go back to the same 10 to 15 sites I have hunted for the last 35 years.

It is just a big load of fun for me to continue to go back to these same places...hoping to sniff another keeper or 2 out.
