THE REPORTS ARE IN - THE AT PRO IS THE MOST AWESOME DETECTOR EVER BUILT...

 Well, Mr. Garrett has even impressed the grouchy old reddirtfisher!! It took some time but Garrett has finally manufactured a detector that makes a LOT of sense. This may even make me switch brands if this unit does what they say it is going to do. The other manufacturers need to stand up and pay attention to this one. Best of wishes to Garrett :clapping:

P.S. Oh by the way....Thanks for making this unit BLACK instead of that stupid YELLOW color :surprised:

Virginia is the perfect state to do a comprehensive field test report. Severe iron belt to sugar sand to salt water beaches. I have the sites, both colonial and civil war. Plenty of weekends free and years of in field experience. Time will tell..

:usaflag:I will be giving up my Fender amp in pursuit of the AT Pro....once I read some reviews anyways. There are other brands that I would love to own, but in the end I will probably keep my allegiance to Garrett. Especially after my pro-pointer mishap. How can anyone function without one..

Garrett probably has or will test it in that area. They take them to Italy and test them where they have the nastiest soil in the world.

Other brands won't even be in the running with the AT. This puppy is a mind blower.

I have been using the Compadre as a backup for my Ace. Setting the disc. at a level that just ignores paper clips and small nails has brought some incredible and unbelievable finds. I had dreamed of such a machine that would find stuff under this iron masking material and have ID and tonal qualities. The Compadre had a start to really make Tesoro a name and they sat and sat. This is a dream come true. I'm truly glad it happened to such a fine person as Charles. This may be my last detector before I pass on. I'm glad I lived to see the day.

McDave, you're selling your amp? I really can't blame you...I have a Gibson Les Paul Custom and Marshall half stack that I'm really considering selling. Be nice to pay some bills and get the AT Pro. My wife tells me I will regret selling that guitar...but it sounds like I certainly won't regret getting an AT Pro!:yo:

I know what you're going through man. Well as best as I can. I have aJCM 900 Marshall half stack as well as a 73 LP Deluxe and 9 3Custom that I consider all on the block but we should maybe wait until this puppy proves itself. Certainly the Marshalls and LP's already have.

Sell a Les Paul.... dont do it kind sir :).... Heck in a couple months you should start seeing a couple show up on the classified forum for less . It happens that way with any brand new Detector. It is what it is.

I always liked the Garrett's as when they chimed in on a coin, that is what is was. and most of the Bottle caps were taking out of the picture. I loved going around and picking up quarters all day long. I hope the AT Pro is another one just like it. One of the first water machines with a Meter...

Wow! Lots of hyperbole and fawning for a machine nobody on here has even handled yet. I'm looking forward to it too, but I think I'd like to use one or at least read a couple independent field tests before resigning every other detector on earth to the obsolete bin. I still have my ADS Deepseeker that I bought in '81 so I like Garretts, but I think we might be getting a little carried away with all the "most awesome ever" talk. JMO.

I agree that the hype surrounding this machine is a bit much. While I am excited and looking forward to the release of the AT, at this point I think folks are getting a bit carried away before we have access to real user reviews. Minelab metal detectors such as the Sovereign has had variable tonal qualities since the early 90's that incorporate a proportional response based on target depth as well as support for variable tones on a single target which Garrett calls tone roll audio. These are not new concepts. However the idea of an all purpose machine that is waterproof and yet has an external speaker and LCD display I would agree is a game changer and I applaud Garratt for this accomplishment.

I believe that all mid to high end metal detectors should be at least highly water resistant if not water proof. Just about all search coils these days are water proof, suggesting that most metal detectors can perform light water duty. However if the control box is not highly water resistant or even better yet water proof to at least a minimal depth, then all it take is an accidental drop in the water, splash from a playing child, dunk from a rogue wave, or getting caught in a rainstorm to potentially put your expensive machine out of commission. Hopefully other manufacturers fall into step with Garrett with the idea of a water proof general purpose detector.

..and there you have the reason for the excitement! Yes, we're all itching to see if it performs to expectations. That ANY manufacturer finally stepped up and built the detector that should have existed years ago is why I sold my Minelab to buy this detector. I've bought and sold many detectors because they just weren't well suited to all I wanted to do. I can't afford multiple machines unfortunately, and what money I do have is focused on getting me to the remote destinations that my type of treasure hunting requires. Also, a good dunking could be expected for the type of hunting I do. This detector is light, which means it can ride in my pack till needed, the waterproof feature means I don't have to worry when I get caught in a downpour, it also means that my hunts along creeks won't be nerve-wracking with constant thoughts of falling in and ruining my detector.

Yep. I'm HYPED about this detector! :garrett: :super:

Hey guys, this machine seems to be like a modified SCORPION GOLD STINGER with a meter and few extra features, seems to have allot of similarities. Can't wait to actually read some reviews anyhow. I'm just curious if it really can perform to every ones expectations or if it's just another marketing strategy to get everyone all excited and worked up to generate extra sales. I guess to proof will be in the pudding when we get some honest, down to earth, field tests and feedback from everyone who buys one.
HAPPY HUNTING
TRIPLE-SSS

Knowing Garrett they will produce a winner especially for the bucks but using almost all of them has some big shoes to fill and seriously hope your statement is a truism....

Oh it tis a fact as many will soon discover. Garrett listened to their customers and built a machine accordingly.

Bill

Yeah I've owned Tesoros for years and currently have a Compadre in my stable and it's a dandy little machine.

Bill

Yeah it'll be great to have a machine you can hunt the beach with then just wander out into the water and continue hunting and submerge the detector without any worries of trashing it..
