There has been a lot of talk about the 12x10 SEF

but has anyone considered the 15x12 SEF??? Would love to hear if anyone has one of the "big boys" and what their thoughts are on it.
Regards,
Keith

After using the 12x10 I am going to get the15X12. Tried the 12X10 this weekend. What a fantastic coil. It's like a new machine. Went out to a spot that I have hunted many times with my Stock coil, my Excelerator Coil and my 15' WOT. I couldn't believe that I could actually find more coins and other items. ("Deep") Found 3 Indian heads 1 merc and 3 Flat buttons and a brass reed holder from a old harmonica. I wasn't expecting to find anything. There is definitely better separation between copper and brass, and with silver it really sings a very high tone. Pinpointing is great also. Money well spent.

Definitely keep me posted on that 15x12.... looks like I will be buying 2 more coils. Seems everyone is satisfied with the 12x10, I can only imagine what the 15x12 will do.

Keith

BRYCE, IT SHOULD BE A BLAST PUTTING THESE 2 COILS UP SIDE BY SIDE AND TESTING THEM OUT, THE 10X12 SEF AND THE MINELAB 11' SOUNDS LIKE THERE BOTH WINNERS TO ME

I would put my $$$ on the 11" minlab......for all around coil....one never to take off rod....SEF is nice but.... 11"...has great seperation, light and depth......and stability running high sens. and all....... get one and you will see.....:surprised:

Ive been running my sens at manual 32 for the past 3 hunts now.
Gain at 8 nd deep on. Still quiet and like mattockman said, good separation.
I couldn't be happier.

Ok, perhaps an ignorant question, but what's the difference between the NEW 15 x 12" EXcelerator SEF Butterfly Searchcoil I can find at KellyCo and the 15 x 12" SEF Detech Coil Supplied with coil cover. you can get at the link provided in the beginning of this thread?

My birthday is coming up and I've been reading all the threads about the WOT, the SE PRO, and the SEF coil. I was a bit surprised when there appears to be two different companies out there marketing their "S.E.F." coils.

Someone in the know please advise, birthday is next week, and I put the EXcelerator SEF on the list I sent out.

P.S. honestly, I've not heard much convicing evidence that there really is any true different in the SE Pro coil and the SEF, they are both DD coils in an eliptical/symmetrical pattern. Any depth increase people may be getting seems more to do with the size of the coil than the technology put into it. I could be persuaded that the symmetrical pattern may increase depth over a DD configuration. However, I haven't seen any of the companies adding something to back up any new technology included in DD coils other than saying it is symmetrical. Given that there are so many variables that affect metal detecting, could some of the success stories be just as easily attributed to a larger coil, or if the same coil size was used with "new coil X" producing better results simply be better soil conditions? I'm not trying to cause a stink here, but the analytical side of me isn't seeing the data to back things up.

I'm going to bump this, as I'm curious what SEF people are buying. I'm still a bit sceptical, however I want to purchase a coil that will add some depth but not one that could sub for a hoola-hoop. A 12X15 coil seems a perfect match. So, the EXcelerator SEF is fairly cheap in comparison to the base price of the Detech SEF coil. Is EXcelerator the American version of the Detech SEF?

Detech I swear there used to be a link to this site in this thread but it is no longer there?

[attachment 98715 15x12sef.jpg]This is the EXCelerator SEF

[attachment 98716 sefcoil2.gif]This is the Detech

Converting pounds to dollars, the Detech is $107 more than the EXcelerator... Any feedback would be appreciated.
