Thinking of buying a Deus???

Mark kus

Well-known member
Have a few questions I'm 6-2" are they adjustable enough for me?
I have and Etrac which I really like but want a backup how are these
Compared to Etrac with depth I hunt saltwater beaches a lot and parks
And fields.
Thanks

Mkus, I'm 6'1 and have plenty of adjustment left I do have a little longer arms than normal though. Some like their coil way out in front of them, but I keep mine close to my feet. I don't think you'll have any issues. Maybe someone taller yet will chime in.

Even if it was too short (which it's probably not), XP makes an extended middle rod for really tall people.

I use both. In my dirt the etrac is deeper and has better ID at those depths.
The Deus separates quicker and is better in iron.
They complement each other very well.
You might also consider the Nokta Impact as a back up to your etrac.

I've had the CTX(bells and whistles) Etrac for a few years and suspected the Deus was the one machine that could really complement it. I was right. SW beaches--Etrac light trash park-Etrac Heavy trash park--Deus Fields--Deus. HH

Ok thanks I'm doing real well now with Etrac as it came with two extra coils and
Does everything well but I'd like a backup to

Thanks I'm looking to get a very lightweight detector that's why I'm considering
A deus

Best combination is the E-Trac and a Deus. Compliment each other very well.

I've had my E-Trac for 8 yrs. and my Deus for 2 yrs.
Both machines have there strong points for sure - personally I use the Deus 95% of the time now.
If I went to a salt water beach I'd take the E-Trac.

The Deus has a lightning fast processor that's just killer in heavy iron !
I've gone back to at least (15) iron infested sites that I thought I'd hunted out with the ET ( 6" coil ) - dug real nice finds (that I missed) at almost all these sites with the Deus.
You can swing the Deus all day easier that you can swing an E-Trac for two hours.
I have an old shoulder injury, so for me hunting with the Deus is a total pleasure !

In high trash parks the Etrac is best,,all my deus does is high false tone on beaver tails.

Good for you. Mine is only a month old. Been out 4 times. I am learning to love the separation capabilities already.
Im a quick learner I think because I spend a lot of time detecting That helps lol

Mkus - There are a lot of great programs for the Deus - most people would say to just start out in one of the factory programs - like Basic 1 till you get use to the sounds.
Gary's "Sifter program is killer in heavy iron.

A few things that will really help you learn about your Deus ...

Be sure to watch Gary's (from the UK) video series on the Deus - they are very well done.
Get a copy of Andy's Deus handbook - it goes into much more detail than the factory manual.
Stay active in the Findmall - "Deus" forum - read others posts and ask questions - lots of nice people in this forum !

Good Hunting !

I too use the Sifter program most of the time, in iron infested soil it just separates and you can hear the high tones. I have about fifty hours on my Deus and it is really hitting the deep stuff that i have missed, to all don't get discouraged you must put in some time and it will all come together.
