This is unbelievable, Never in my detecting years, Have I had a detector with such a fast recovery speed, And in both visual and audio to boot!

The T-2 is a remarkable machine, It'll separate both the zinc and copper penny in both audio and visual as you swing the coil over both pennies no more than 3-4 inches above ground, And as other detectors it'll see them as one target if I lift the coil above 3-4 inches. My other top end detectors seen both pennies as one target with the pennies this close together.

Check out the pic, as close as these two pennies are the T-2 will ID them both in visual and audio. I used the 3 tone feature which allows the copper to come in higher in audio. Try it out for yourself, Use an older copper penny and a current zinc using the 3-tone feature with disc set as low as possible, My disc is set at 10 and normally I run with the two tone approach. The visual ID is just as quick as the audio, Lighting fast.

My new Explorer SE came close but still didn't have the fast ID as the T-2, The audio on the new Explorer SE is almost as quick as the T-2 but the visual ID on the SE is still allot slower than the T-2.

Amazing, the gap between the zinc and copper penny is about the thickness of a blade of grass.

Normally, The detectors with a fast recovery speed only have the audio operating quick. but the T-2 visual ID is just as fast as the audio which is truly the fastest detector I have ever seen.

Paul are you sure you don't have stock in this company? :cheers: Let me ask you a question...your Minelab VS your T2 depth at parks I know you use a smaller coil on the Minelab. Can you do a test for me? I have the fisher 70pro and it is very deep but I am sure it does miss some deep targets or reads iron. My whites still does a great job and I use the hot shot in big fields and schools and it seems to work very well. Thinking about getting a DD for my 6000Xl to speed it up and my Gold Scanner is fast and the ground bal is great!

Depth is about the same between the T-2 and Explorer, But we feel the T-2 does detect a little deeper based from a friends coin test bed.

However, If it's deep park silver I would go with the Explorer. The T-2 detects every bit as deep or even deeper but the Explorer has a superb visual target ID on deeper signals and will not fool the user as much on the tiny bits and pieces of low conductors reading as a deep coin on the T-2, Both detectors are great machines but the Explorer has an edge on the T-2 for deep park silver and searching on wet beach sand.

For other areas especially in the trashy areas the T-2 will work circles around the explorer, In areas like an old ghost town or an old settlement the T-2 will be the detector to use, It'll capture finds masked by iron the Explorer or other top end detectors will pass over and still get fantastic depth out in the clearer areas on the outskirts of the settlement. The T-2 under these type of conditions will be the only detector you need.

Actually, Even though the MXT has a fast recovery speed it didn't fare as well as the T-2. I feel the T-2 fast recovery speed is as fast as it can get, And it's doing it with a large coil which is mind boggling.

(New Fisher) If Dave Johnson is stirring the pot and tossing in his ingredients it should be a winner. Plus I'd bet the farm it comes out with the same DD coil as the T-2 only a lower kHz, same arm-rest battery pack and same meter housing, This will keep cost down allot enabling the new fisher to hit the streets soon.

Paul: you love the history of the hobby and the machines that allow you to search the history, it's a rush. So the T2 comes out and you are overcome by the shear speed. It is light and you can hunt your old sights and pull targets out you missed. The machine is easy to use yet a superhero at your fingertips.

So I have been waiting for more bells and whistles and forgetting that there will have to be a trade off, (a price to pay) when all I want to do is hunt. The T2 from what I have read and I have been reading all I can find, seems to fit the bill for my needs!

So maybe Dave went back into his bag of tricks and did what White's wouldn't let him do. If they get a small coil for getting into tight areas and such I think it will push sales.

I guess I have to start thinking that when something comes out that is the next advancement I will have to shell out the money and read the forums to see if it gives me the quickness I need and the depth and if it unmasks hidden targets. But the T2 does that now!

Of course having you as a friend helps because you are honest and young at heart. I am glad to see you got the new Minelab and are very honest that it is a bit faster but not a big huge new detector.

Don't know why they didn't take things to the next level. They must have made a good share of money on the Explorer. I don't think they will sell a lot I think it will just add money to there existing line.

Maybe this way they can retire some of the Explorers and add the new one.

What is up with Troy? He has taken two years I know he had to take a big hit when he left fisher...But I think it could be worth the wait.

I don't know if fisher wants to out due the T2 this early. I think the T2, if given time, may become a sleeper and gain a great reputation as one of the best new detectors with a large DD coil that works.

Maybe a T2 with auto ground tracking & notch? Less susceptible to interference? Multi-frequency?

According to "The General" on the Fisher forum this new Fisher is supposed to have enhanced depth too. So, maybe a larger or improved coil design?

The new fisher enhanced depth may not come from a larger or improved coil design even though it may use the same T-2 style DD coil, It will most likely come from a lower freq somewhere maybe in the 7 kHz CoinStrike range but not as high as the T-2 kHz.

The lower kHz will enhance depth for the higher conductive targets such as coins but will lose it on the low end on the smaller conductive signals, Something gained something loss. The T-2 will still have it's place and if the new fisher is designed with a lower freq it'll have it's place as well.

Hard to say what's going on but we're all pleased with the direction they are heading, And we don't know if Dave Johnson had enough time to add on a ground tracking for the new fisher as he did with the MXT which is an excellent feature to have. Which would result in extensive field testing to get it right, Allot of work involved to add on these extra neat features.

Whatever the outcome may be it'll be positive for sure.

A little off subject here.......Being an Explorer user since day one, I recently picked up the Explorer SE and have to say it's an improvement over the older Explorer but the T-2 still has a much faster recovery speed. The T-2 is still my main machine for relic hunting.

It will be interesting to see if Fsiehr learned from its sales of the edge and if whites learned from its sale of the M6. If you want to sell thousands of machines you have to do something different and new. The T2 is what the MXT could have been but to hear things like it is faster then the explorer and as deep for relic hinting that is all I need to know.

We all want our backup or park and school detecotor and for you Paul the Minelab fits the bill. It is heavy way to heavy for me and my 50 years of life. So I can swing a fisher or T2 or my whites all day and come home feeling really well.

Lets see if Fisher now takes things to heart and comes out with a line of new detector that is going to be like there CZ.
 
I've been using an explorer xs for several years. Have watched many detectors get hyped and then never see anybody posting many finds with them while the explorers keep finding stuff. The T2 seems to be holding up.

My main beef with the explorer is that around powerlines can only run the sensitivity at a low level.

T2 any better at this?

this T2 is better than either or both. It is a little noisy in ground with high iron but since that is what we have here I have gotten used to it and when I get in clean ground it really is incredible and I can run the sens over 90. I usually run it between 75 and 80 here with an iron content of 1.0%... really. You just get used to all the chatter but... let me tell you... at first it is really hard to get your mind around in hot ground but once you do... well, it rocks.

I'm like you, The T-2 is my flagship detector which is for about 90 percent of my hunting needs. The older the site and the heavier the iron content the better, Zips through these type of sites with ease.

Running at 90 percent sens is high, But if your ground allows I guess the more the better. Here in Ca, The highest I can operate my T-2 is about 65-70 and that's pushing it. Still, 65-70 sens is plenty deep for me and for the extremely trashy iron areas I bring it down to about 45-60.

I use both the Explorer and T-2 so I can relate to what you're experiencing with both models when it comes to power lines or other interference, I've experienced low levels to high with both machines.

As for the T-2, Whenever you encounter poor stability due to power lines or some type of odd interference just back up on sens and do try a different freq, And of course manually ground balance to cancel out the unwanted ground signals.....As far as power lines, My T-2 operates well near them but like the explorer I have encountered some interference, Something we need to deal with.

You'll be amazed how many people still operate a detector with too high of sensitivity, Some of the radical behavior comes from users using too much sensitivity.

I feel both detectors are about equal on interference if both detectors are operating correctly, Depending on the area one may do better than the other so we'll still encounter interference with both detectors. I enjoy both the T-2 and Explorer XS, Even have the SE model which is a step above the XS. But hands down the T-2 has a much faster recovery speed.
