This mornings hunt.

Gerald (tabman) and I hooked up for a short morning hunt on a old housing site that is a trash haven. I'm not sure what detector tabman was using when he hit a nice target, so will let him post here or elsewhere. My very first target was an ornate, thin gold looking piece that I didn't think much about at the time. It did read in the nickel range and was about 3+ inches deep. As it turned out, besides 5 wheat cents, it was the only good target I dug. Once I got home and gave it a rinse, I spotted the 10k markings. It weighs in at a whopping 0.9 grams. I'm wondering if it isn't the back of something else. However, the front, of which, I didn't take a picture of, is quite ornate. I had the 5"dd coil on the Omega and running 99 sen, disc 1 and d3 tones. HH jim tn

Hard to believe but it's been 54 years since last Wheats were made..... Not that I remember that

It takes a lot of skill to pull gold out of all that trash.

Jim, your results sure make me think I'm missing out by not having an Omega!

and it DOES take a lot of skill to pull those good targets out of all that trash.-----Congrats to both of ya!

Nice finds for sure! That 5" coil will be my next purchase after I get the 11". Those smaller coils are worth more than most people think in the trash.

Jim, you just keep finding the unusual:)...I have a mental image of a littlle propeller on your Teknetics hat that spins when something good is under the coil.........and as said previously....some serious skill pulling that little gold item out of its hiding place.
