This snow and cold weather is killing me!

dk dogs

New member
The weather this week has been better low 40's but we still have 3-4 inches of snow (down from almost a foot) or more in spots. I tried one spot today but I have hunted it hard this year and came up with nothing. Lets hope that the snow goes away soon and the ground gets soft again. It is killing me not being able to get out!

GO SOUTH young man thats where the Gold is!!!!!!! I'm going nuts myself and I can feel your pain. Hang on.

dk dogs,I just had an idea on how we can ease the pain of winter. Go to Lows and buy some of those wire flags they use to mark underground cables and such, then cut half the lenght of the wire off making them only about 8" long. Next when the snow melts you can go out and hunt for the targets, write little notes on the flag telling you what the TID # were and flag it. When the snow melts and the ground thaws out , then you can go back and dig all your flaged targets ,saving you the hunting time. At least your out hunting even if you can't dig Now poke a big hole in my idea and tell me the the E-Trac can't see through frozen ground

I know how you feel! Snow just melted here and now raining all day =) I don't mind snow and I don't mind rain, but when you have both it's a cold nasty muddy mess.

We have had the low 40's in Australia at the moment as well......but that is 40degC, it hit 45degC for a couple days last few weeks....and yes it's killing me too! lol

Have the opposite weather but same problem, cant go out in the weather and the ground is hard as a rock. :stretcher:

Cheers

OK,RC Detector its to muddy to dig then just Flag it. Now for idea number 2 , dk dogs, I looked you up and found out who you are, what type of work you do and who you work for. Now tell me once again why you can't hunt? A man with your connections there is no excuse. If they can find a metal object in a child those same connections that you have can find one in a plug. Now for not being able to dig, your co-workers have chain saws to cut through Ice to save someone. Once again they can cut your plugs for you and they would be very easy to drop back into the holes. Just remind them what you do for a living and they should think about it because if they ever need your services you could just be out trying to metal detect the hard way and your just to busy or tired to help them when they ask for it. You have power your not even using. Just put the word on them and now you could use some of their help. Humor is better than crying in the mirror like I do everyday. PS I'm exactly twice your age and whem I was in USMC Viet Nam they called me beaucoup dien cai dau, pronounced BOO COO Dinky-dow .meaning much crazy in the head. I guess I still am.

If I flag it then someone will come behind me with their bounty hunter and dig up all my silver :smoke:

Funny post Jeff. I think that name is fitting! Thank you for serving.. Did they teach you those quality stalker skills? I got a Sunray X-5 the other day and thats just like rubbing salt in the wound.
I do use those flags in the summer when I really want to grid an area.

Believe me ... I know how you feel - we had a lot of snow here - gotta get out in the dirt again or this will be me ... ! :rage:

Hi All
I am in the same boat as you and tonite and tomorrow a winter storm warning for us with high winds, below zero and 6+ in snow here in western SD.
The days are beginning to get a little longer so that is encouraging.

The Good Lord hate a coward! Life is all Chance and sometime you just have to take the best one that comes up.

Your the one who said go to Pictures of me.... Pictures of you. USMC taught us how to adapt and overcome and throughout my life I got darn good at it.Walking out of Nam was my biggest accomplishment.

We got a catch 22 here in Tennessee. It is 50 degrees above normal. It's going to be in the 70's today and tomorrow! But we have had rain everyday and a have high percentage of rain for the next 5 days! It is beyond a swamp here, If it gets to 72 today it will break the record high back in 1898. I may have to put on the muck boots and rain gear and go play in the mud. I hope it ends up being a short winter for everyone.

Believe me I feel your pain. -20 F this morning, over 12" of snow and -30 F windchill. I need to move further south!
