Thought i dug a cannon ball!

It is likely that it could be tightened down with a wrench but I did not attempt to do that. It came from an area with lots of iron.

I've looked but can't seem to find a exact match.
I'm thinking that it is a counter weight adjuster for some sort of balance scale.
Used to "true up" the scale.
 
Pretty sure it is a cattle horn weight....used to direct a cow horns' growth. Kinda cool and I did dig it in cattle country.
