Got out for a few hours to Providence RI”s oldest park Roger Williams Park. It’s a huge 490 acre park dating back to the 1880s. Picked a random meadow away from the people, Had a frustrating first hour, as the place was loaded with Iron, and the deep rusty nails still fool me sometimes with the Manticore. The place was loaded with trash, and very few coins. Ignored some shallow Zincolns, and finally locked on to a tasty deep repeatable signal. Up came a 1901 Indian, my first Indian with the Manticore. A foot away, pulled up a 1903 Indian, and there was a big rusty nail in between the two. A few minutes later pulled up a 188? Indian. First three coins I dug were Indians. Shortly after got a 1921 Wheat. Only other coins I dug were a clad Quarter and dime. The coins were few and far between. I had been on a bit of a dry streak lately, so was nice to finally dig some oldies again. I’m going to be working for the next two weeks in Connecticut, hope to find a few good spots to hunt there.
