TID during pinpointing

New member
Scenario: I have a 12/43 signal showing solid on x and y axis. When I pull the pinpoint button, is it normal for the VID to change as the "red ball" lights up or am I pinpointing a different target? In other words, I have noticed that when I am hovered over the target, my VID numbers change from the 12/43 to something different. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks,

Yea don't worry about the VID while pinpointing. The machine goes into non-motion detecting mode and will pick up any and all targets under the coil. If you got a good tone, use the wiggle back method as well as the pinpointing dots to mark your target.

Actually, I was told by Randy Horton that the TID and depth indication are more accurate in Poinpoint mode. I have found this to be true.

Thank you all for sharing the info. Yeah, since getting the CTX, I have been in the dig (just about) everything mode. The repeatable signals all get attention, if they are within the realm of acceptable targets. I know one thing, this baby will pick up some DEEP targets! Still in learning mode, but, so far, very impressed!! (better be.....for $2500!.....of course, it is really not quite that much when you consider the quality incentive items that are included in the packages offered by Bart at Big Boys Hobbies......much better than the worthless stuff offered from the "big box" store.....I'm sure you know who I mean)

chuckciao i am very surprised to hear that and i am glad it is working for you and others, i can't say the same for my targets so far. i will pay more attention to this during my next hunt tomorrow.
