To T2 or not to T2????

Circle C Digger

New member
While I was in SLC earlier this week, I checked out the T2 at the local Teknetics dealer. I was very impressed with the design, ease of set up, and recovery time. However, I'm now concerned after reading many MD posts describing the serious problems the T2 has with electrical interferences. Has this issue been resolved?? Sure would like to buy one if this is no longer an issue.

It IS an awesome detector. The one I have on loan is an "R6" updated version.....I have never seen ANY interference at all with it. I believe they did some work on the coil....so yes, it's now corrected from what I see. I don't think you can go wrong....it's ergonomic & very sensitive....just be sure it's the newer R6 one.

I've had mine for 4 or 5 months and love it. The T2 is very sensitivity and will chatter when very close to power lines, but not a problem. I relic hunt civil war sites and wouldn't use anything else. Between my Explorer XS and the T2, I will use the T2. If something should happen to the T2 I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. At North Myrtle Beach, SC the other weekend I went out for some hunting and had trouble with the batt. on my Explorer so I got out the T2. I did ok considering the time of year. I'm looking forward to summertime to really give it a try out. It works good in the dry sand but not in the wet sand. I really cann't ground balance the wet sand, but I like the dry sand in the evening after everyone has gone. There is one problem with the T2 and that is you will do alot of digging. I dug a beer can at 20 inches, the deepest I've every dug anything. If you get one and don't like it you will not have any trouble selling it. Its hard to explain how well the T2 works if you don't see it in action. The recovery is fantastic, you can have 2 coins within an inch of each other and you will get 2 distinct hits. On a wood deck that is nailed you can swing across the deck and hear each nail. If you don't decide to get one thats ok, that means more stuff for me.

it is still a sensitive detector and will chatter a bit under some power lines but it is not a problem that in any way cancels the benefits of the T2. I have a Sovereign GT and a Tejon but the T2 is alway's my "go to" detector. It simply out-performs the others. It will not work in a yard with an invisible dog fence though, it must be turned off... laff.

You will not regret your decision to buy a T2, as long as it is the newer model with the 3b mode. You may cuss me for the first two weeks but after that you will thank me... and everyone else here who tells you to GET ONE!!!
