Today I killed my first......................................................

Wow, that is a big ugly snake. Speaking of snakes, I ran into this critter some years back. I always show respect (back away, take an alternative route) unless I have no choice but to fight for my life. I was walking along an abandoned road and ran into this big dude. He was catching some zzzz's and enjoying the heat from the blacktop. At first I thought he was dead, but quickly realized he was KING of the road lol..

Hey, Jim, that is one long snake sunning itself on the pavement and I wouldn't want to meet it whether asleep or not! Yuck, I just don't like snakes! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Hi Ma Betty,

The snake seemed rather peaceful if I can say such a thing about a snake. He didn't bother me and I just watched him slither away. I think I was the "pest" video taping and taking his picture. He finally had enough of me so he left. lol.

Well, I would just let it slither away, also, but wouldn't have been close enough to take a good pic or video of it! If they don't bother me, I won't bother them, unless they are poisonous and then if I can, I will kill it, so it won't bite someone and harm them! Did I mention that I don't like snakes???  :look: May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

i had a copperhead hit my coil one day at dusk, making my way back to vehicle, and just randomly swinging for luck on the way out. i was looking off the other way and thought i bumped my coil. he was in the hollow of a tree base. he struck my coil twice. i carry a double barrell cobray 45long colt derringer, that a .410 shotgun shell fits in also, in my bag just for emergencies. this was a swimming lake used by a church for kids camp. kaboom! normally i am live and let live. i was named after a man that raised rattlers for venom for the govt. he died of complications at 83 from a bite, refusing treatment, from a foriegn doctor who knew nothing about rattlers, three days later his unknown ulcers hemmorraged, and he was rushed in. he died after several days in hospital. he was doing a charity show for dying child. he had been bit a number of times, and had quite the anti venom in his blood, but the ulcers got to bleeding. good man he was. rip.

That would be scary when a copperhead struck at your coil twice....glad it was your coil and not you! And to get rid of it to make the kids safer was a good idea! They can hide anywhere in tree roots, rocks and can even be in open ground like near a lake, creek and etc. My sister almost stepped on a cottonmouth when she and her hubby went fishing, as it was laying on the river bank! Me, I would have left that place fast and wouldn't return! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
