Today's digs plus snow in the mtns pics.

Last night we got about 1 1/4 inches of rain in Tucson - in our gage & in my mother in law's also. Here's the mountains above us - lots of snow. They ski up there.

The mountains are up to 9,600 ft and down in the valley here we are at 2400 ft.

The weather cleared up this morn and I went digging. Got 76 coins, gold pendant, a silver bracelet part.

The english coin is a 2 pence, the gold pendant is 10 K , the ring is junk & the broken piece of bracelet tested to be sterling.

What in the world is this pin like device ? The wheaty is 1923, pretty old for a school drop. steve in so az

The thing with the loop on one end looks like one side of scissors or other medical type thing.

Good finds and the wheatie looks rather worn so I would say it is a school drop, as there are still wheaties in circulation! I used to get them in change ever once in a while, but I use a credit or debit card most of the time now and don't get much change at all!

Don't know what the thing-a-ma-jig is unless it is somekind of small socket wrench for a musical instrument! Looks like it would fit around something with threads as it does't seem to have any itself!

Nice pics of beautiful mountain scenery.....I like the mountains winter or summer!

At first glance, the pin looks very much like the 'pull pin' from a grenade but it's not completely round and far too polished to be a grenade pin. My guess is it's a 'drift pull pin' for some type of equipment such as a trailer hitch or something.

I can solve the mystery of the "pin like device." It is a ring that goes on a trumpet slide. When holding the trumpet in your left hand, your left "ring finger" goes in this ring to help support the trumpet and also gives you control over being able to slide that particular slide in or out. Some of the newer trumpets just have a U shaped thing to put that finger in, but all of the older models (and some newer ones too) have the ring pictured above. There is a small bracket that the shaft slides through and a small screw is used to tighten it down in a position that best fits, or is most comfortable for the player. Been a trumpet player for for about 37 years, my daughter was a trumpet player throughout high school, and I help with the band program at our high school - so I know for sure this is what you found.

If you look at the bracelet there is a small black splotch on it. This is where I put a dab of "Silver Black" on it. If it doesn't wash off it's silver. Not expensive, check with your jeweler.Steve
