Today's find...

New member
Went out to an older park in Stockton and did some hunting with a good buddy of mine. After about 30 minutes of hunting the grass between the sidewalk and street, I got a VDI of 20-22. I dug down only one or two inches and a 10 gram men's ring popped out. The thing was so big, it fit over my thumb! It ended up being 10K and filled our pockets with about 160 bucks. Not too bad for a half hour. What a great day!

Great find, but I think you calculations are off on the price. Try this: http://www.dendritics.com/scales/metal-calc.asp HH, Nancy

Nice Find I will get some gold one of these days! I have read in the forums that alot of the gold finds can be found in any of the vdi target ranges so I guess when I dig I need to start digging more of the iffy so called trash signals..

Nancy, It looks like he may have sold it to a gold buyer that pays 75% of gold value. If you add the markup/discount value to -25% it comes to $163.62

Awesome find, I hope I find something that valuable someday!

That's a fantastic find, Lodihunter. I was doing mostly beaches for the past 4 years, but so many people are doing them now that I spend 8 or 10 dollars on gas to find less than a dollar in change because so many people are retired and detecting the beaches on a daily basis, and those people arn't missing much. Now I'm trying to learn to do parks and parking strips. I can only dream of finding a ring like yours. Did you sell the ring, or keep it to show as one of your great finds?

Yep... Sold it for 160. Probably could have held out for 20 more bucks but I needed the money for bills. Easiest money I've ever made.

Well, if your lucky to find a deal that should be just enough for a good used D2 coil on Ebay. I paid $175 for a new one a few weeks ago and have since then seen several listed for 160-175 range.

Seems like a rip-off to me. JMHO. HH, Nancy

A big congrats, but I'm afraid if I sold it I would be running to our new casino in an attempt to double my money...

Keep on digging/Cliff

Nice find and hold out for that extra $20 next time. :nono: CCH
