Todays the day for my first spin on my "new" to me f-75......

An unbeleivable 58* degrees here in N E Ohio.. so got to put about 2.5 hrs in for my initial hunt....Here's to low-down.... GB at 74 sens at 70, disc 10, DE mode 3h for tones... no EMI chatter when I lowered the disc to 4 at raised the coil to waist high... Anyway... this is a fast, fast machine ( as everybody knows ).. It does hear everything which is why it is so CHATTY...

I am by nature not a fast whipping detector walker when I hunt.. I hope this doesn't hurt the depth of the machine for locating deep coins and whatsits..

I went to a sled riding hill hoping to pick up surface clad, but actually found very little!! I did dig quite a few coins, but most were 4-6 inch range.. All solid hits, and reasonably solid VDI #'s too. I'm digging everything to see how/what corresponds to the #'s the detector is giving me...

Are there some initial gripes ??? Sure there are , thats to be expected.. The detector tips over alot when set down on solid level ground.... The coil cover fell off at least 8-10 times when picking back up the detector from retreiving a target... I'm not a fan of the arm cuff.. I wish they made it with a strap to slide your hand/arm thru... Possibly I could use a different one from another manufacturer in its place??? All piddly Bi*&$hs I know, but thats what I see.

Overall, it was a nice spin tho.. more to come.

I believe you will like the F 75. You will get a handle of the correct swing speed pretty quick and a little quicker swing speed will become second nature to you. I kneel on one knee when recovering a target and set the detector close to my right side and only occasionally does it tip over. And, I don't use a coil cover. Good luck, it is a fun and wonderful detector. HH jim tn

I have the LTD 75. I know it tilts so I go ahead and lay it on its side. Lowes and other places have all in one Velcro straps you can add so you can slide your arm in and out the trough. I never had the regular 75, and the ltd took some getting used to as can be chatty also, mainly because it is very sensitive. Ive heard very good things about the 75. Good luck, CO

once I run with the default mode for a few more hunts .. I'll venture into the boost mode and see what opens up in the ground.. Can't wait.

If you didn't know; the arm cuff can be adjusted to fit your arm size, it bends, no need for a strap.....fast and easy.

Hey Mark congrats on the F75 , most who have boost mode use it 90 % of the time .
As for tip over , you can make a stand . I just lean it on my leg if standing or my thigh if kneeling down.

If you are in boost and hold the red scroll button down it will switch to DE mode until released.
You will find you can run a lot less sens in boost and still hit deeper than DE mode. HH Mike

The above post is correct....Just slightly bend in the sides of arm rest..it compresses on the sides of your arm..easy on off..... Plus you have covers so no damage is done even if they tip..

DO NOT..repeat DO NOT be afraid to turn the sens down.......... You have a lot of power there... Lower works extremely well in fact. Boost is a bonus.......The F75 is designed for a shoulder to shoulder brisk swing speed. It id's better and goes deeper with shoulder to shoulder swinging.....

The boost is fantastic for about 4 to 5 inches above ground in high grass and field stuble.

hey you do have the higher model then. Great, yes the boost process definitely takes it up a notch- like gmanlight says, most use it a lot. Good Hunts, CO

Hi Mark,
What I saw with my new F75se is that going from DE to BP SLOWS the sounds and prolongs the signal to make it easier on the ear and better to understand the noise. Also while fast swing is OK, slow swing is just as good or better.
Today I gave the DISC 6, monotone a try- I really liked it!

I put a used shadow arm cup on mine on day 1. MUCH better!

Dont be afraid to experiment with different sweep speeds. A brisk swing will give you a better ID, but a moderate sweep will give you better cleaner audio.
In cellar-hole type sites with lots of iron debris, a real slow sweep will give you awesome separation, but you'll sacrifice depth.
I'm not bothered by the tipping over thing either, because I rarely lay my machine down. I competition hunted for a long time, and got used to setting my machine on my knee while I dug. Still do it that way today. Took a bit of practice to get used to it, but dont even think about it anymore. I just do it.

running 2F will make it a bit less chatty, and cut down on high tone iron falses too. Running boost with a low sensitivity will make it even quieter, and let you swing a bit slower than you might want to in DE.
OR, you can run boost at a more normal sens, and just swing your coil a bit higher off the ground. Be aware as well that a high salt content in the dirt will make the F75 VERY chatty, and your better off hunting in AM if thats the case.
